Founded in 2019, we are an Internal Medicine interest group centered in the Aga Khan University.

The Internal Medicine Interest Group (IMIG) was delighted to host an insightful guidance session, “Beyond the Application: Preparing for Your Elective,” bringing together senior students with firsthand experience of electives at leading institutions across the United States.

We were honoured to hear from Muhammad Sohaib Shahid, Fizzah Haroon, Fiza Adnan Khan, and Saniya Waseem, who shared their personal experiences navigating the elective application process, choosing institutions, preparing for electives, and making the most of these opportunities for their future careers and Match journey.

A heartfelt thank you to our panelists for sharing their experiences, practical advice, and valuable insights, and to everyone who joined us for an engaging and informative discussion.

On 19th July 2026, IMIG's alumni and Outreach Wing hosted an insightful session on navigating house job, featuring Dr. Fouz Adil Sheikh and Dr. Maryam Ali Chaudry.

Drawing from their own experiences, they shared practical guidance on preparing for the transition from medical school and the lessons they learned along the way. The session offered students valuable insights into this important milestone and what lies ahead.

On 2nd May 2026, IMIG’s Alumni and Outreach Wing hosted Aapas Ki Baat 6.0 which featured Dr. Ahmad Nadeem. He shared his journey from Aga Khan University to residency and fellowship at Cleveland Clinic.
From USMLE timelines and residency applications to networking, research, interviews, and life after graduation, the session gave students valuable insight into the residency pathway and lessons learned along the way.
