We always end our class with a group picture.

We’re celebrating what we accomplished. Together. 💛

By the time we get to this moment, the children have listened to stories, stood up and spoken in front of the group, stepped into different characters, expressed their ideas and tried something new and in their own little ways, done something that took courage.

That deserves a celebration. ✨

It creates a sense of belonging too — a little community where the children learn, laugh, grow and cheer each other on. 🫶

I love this quote because we often focus so much on what our children can’t do that we forget to invest in what they’re already good at.

Some of the children who come to our Confidence Building Classes are already confident and expressive — but a strength can always be strengthened. 🌱

A confident speaker today could be the child who takes the lead in a school play, enters a debate competition, can host school events, and eventually walk into interviews and new environments knowing how to express themselves.

Instead of only asking, “Where does my child need help?” perhaps we should also ask:

“What is my child already good at — and how far could they go if we nurtured it?” ✨

Sometimes it’s not about fixing a weakness. It’s about turning a strength into something exceptional.

I was a struggling student growing up. I was at the bottom of my class. But not once did a teacher make me feel like that was who I was.

I’m very grateful for the teachers I had at Bay View Academy They believed in me. They encouraged me. They made me feel capable long before I believed it myself.

With their kindness, encouragement, support — and a lot of time — I eventually went from being at the bottom of my class to the top of my class.

I’m still in touch with some of my Grade 2, 3 and 4 teachers today — not because I remember everything they taught me, but because I remember how they made me feel. ❤️

That’s the kind of teacher I try to be. I want every child who walks into my class to feel seen, believed in and celebrated for exactly who they are.

Because sometimes, a child just needs someone to see their potential before they can see it themselves.

Confidence is like a muscle — the more you use it, the stronger it becomes!

No child is born confident. It’s built in small moments: the shy one who finally raises a hand during story time. The child who picks up a prop in a drama session. The one who shares an idea in the circle and watches everyone lean in to listen.

Every one of those moments teaches the same thing — my voice deserves to be heard.

That’s what our drama, public speaking and group discussion sessions are really for. Not performance. Practice. ❤️
