Allah did not describe His Book as ancient, or as sacred, or as preserved, though all of those things are absolutely true. He described it by what it does. It guides to what is most suitable, the most right path through this complicated, often painful human experience. Every question you are carrying right now, this Book has thought about longer and deeper than you have. The question is whether you are truly coming to it, or simply owning it.

The ayah is usually quoted as comfort. It is also a standard. The same verse that says He will not burden you beyond capacity implies that within capacity, the expectation is full effort. What is within your capacity right now that you are not doing? Today is Jummah. That question is worth carrying into the khutbah.
