BOOK REVIEW

The 7 Habits of highly effective people
Author: Stephen Covey

"The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen Covey is a self-help book that has become a classic in its field. Published in 1989, the book has sold millions of copies and has been translated into more than 38 languages. In it, Covey presents a framework for personal and professional effectiveness that is based on seven habits that successful people share.

Covey begins by introducing the concept of "paradigms" – the fundamental beliefs and assumptions that shape our understanding of the world. He argues that the way we see things is not always accurate, and that by changing our paradigms, we can change the way we think, act, and live.

The first three habits that Covey presents – "be proactive," "begin with the end in mind," and "put first things first" – focus on taking personal responsibility for our lives and setting goals. These habits, Covey argues, are the foundation of personal effectiveness.

The next three habits – "think win-win," "seek first to understand, then to be understood," and "synergize" – focus on relationships and collaboration. Covey argues that by understanding and valuing the perspectives of others, we can build trust and cooperation, which leads to more successful outcomes for everyone.

The final habit, "sharpen the saw," is about the importance of self-care and the need to maintain balance in our lives. Covey argues that by taking care of our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being, we can ensure that we have the energy and resources to live our lives effectively.

One of the great strength of this book is the clear, practical and understandable guidance it provides, this allows the reader to easily apply the concepts in real life. Each of the habits is explained in detail, with examples and exercises to help readers understand and implement them. Additionally, Covey includes a variety of case studies, personal anecdotes, and other examples to illustrate the concepts he presents.

Overall, "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" is an inspiring and thought-provoking book that offers practical advice for achieving personal and professional success. The message is clear and simple to understand, and the advice is timeless. It is highly recommended for anyone looking to improve their effectiveness and achieve their goals in life.

BOOK REVIEW

IKIGAI
Authors: Francesc Miralles and Hector Garcia

I recently read "Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life" by Hector Garcia and Francesc Miralles. Overall, I found it to be a thought-provoking and enlightening read about the concept of ikigai, which is a Japanese term that roughly translates to "a reason for being."

The book explores the concept of ikigai and how it is woven into the fabric of Japanese culture, particularly on the island of Okinawa, where people tend to live longer and healthier lives than in other parts of the world. According to the authors, ikigai is at the center of what gives life meaning and purpose, and is something that everyone should strive to discover in order to live a fulfilling and happy life.

One of the things I appreciated about the book is that it doesn't present ikigai as a one-size-fits-all solution to finding happiness and purpose. Instead, the authors encourage readers to look inward and reflect on what truly brings them joy and meaning, and to continually seek out opportunities to pursue their passions and interests.

Overall, I would recommend "Ikigai" to anyone who is seeking to find greater purpose and meaning in their life. It's a thought-provoking and inspiring read that offers practical advice and guidance on how to discover and pursue one's ikigai.

BOOK REVIEW

ATOMIC HABITS
Author: James Clear

Atomic Habits is a self-improvement book written by James Clear that focuses on the idea that small, incremental changes to your habits can lead to significant improvements in your life. The book is based on the premise that we are the sum of our habits, and that by making small changes to those habits, we can achieve remarkable results.

One of the key themes of the book is the importance of focusing on the process rather than the outcome. Clear argues that by focusing on the small, daily habits that lead to our desired outcome, we are more likely to achieve our goals. He also emphasizes the importance of setting clear goals and measuring progress, and provides practical tips for how to do so.

One of the most useful aspects of the book is its emphasis on the role of psychology in shaping our habits. Clear explains how our brains are wired to respond to certain stimuli and how we can use this knowledge to our advantage when trying to form new habits. He also provides practical advice for how to overcome common obstacles to habit formation, such as procrastination and lack of motivation.

One key message from Atomic Habits is the idea of "tiny changes, massive results." This means that making small changes to your habits on a daily basis can lead to significant improvements over time. For example, if you make a habit of exercising for just 15 minutes a day, you may not notice a significant difference in your fitness level right away. However, over the course of a year, that small daily habit can add up to a significant improvement in your overall health and fitness.

In simpler terms, this message from Atomic Habits encourages us to focus on the small, incremental changes we can make to our habits and behaviors, rather than trying to make huge changes all at once. By consistently making these small changes over time, we can see significant improvements in our lives.

Overall, I found Atomic Habits to be an engaging and practical guide to self-improvement. Clear's writing is clear and accessible, and the book is full of useful tips and techniques for improving your habits. Whether you're looking to lose weight, improve your productivity, or simply live a healthier and more fulfilling life, Atomic Habits is a valuable resource that is well worth reading.
