Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) successfully conducted a pre-conference workshop titled “AI-Based Safe, Effective and High-Quality Item Review” on 22 January 2026, under the auspices of CPSP IMECon 2026.

The workshop drew a full-house participation of academicians from multiple institutions, reflecting wide interest in strengthening assessment quality in the era of artificial intelligence. The session addressed the growing reliance on AI for assessment item development and the associated risks to validity, fairness, and examination integrity.

Through interactive discussion and hands-on activities, participants explored how AI can be used safely and responsibly as a quality assurance tool — identifying common item flaws, evaluating assessment items across multiple formats, and designing controlled AI prompts to support systematic review. Emphasis was placed on human judgment, structured governance, and assessment integrity, positioning AI as an assistive inspection layer rather than a replacement for academic expertise.

The workshop reaffirmed JSMU’s commitment to educational innovation and leadership in medical and health professions education.
