Yesterday, we marked World Patient Safety Day, a day that gives us an opportunity to reflect on how we can make healthcare safer and, importantly, how we can turn what we know into action.
At Aga Khan University, much of this work is being taken forward through the Centre for Patient Safety, which brings together research, education and quality improvement. With the Centre now serving as a WHO Collaborating Centre in Implementation Research for Patient Safety, there is an opportunity to better understand what it takes to translate patient safety knowledge and solutions into practice, particularly in low and middle income countries, and to strengthen capacity for patient safety research.
The goal is simple: to move from standards on paper to safety in practice.
