Why does a man stop loving his wife?
The truth may hurt, but every husband must face it.
Because I truly believe that if you read this with an open heart, you might fall in love with your wife again… and faster than you expect.
A man once shared:
“Years ago, I used to rush home from work.
I missed my wife—her voice, her laugh, even the smell of her hair. I missed everything about her.
But now?
I come home late. I prefer to be with my friends. I don’t even feel like talking to her. I don’t even want to look at her.
When she calls, I ignore it.
When she messages me, I don’t open it.
And at night, when she comes close to me, I just say,
‘I’m tired… I just want to sleep.’
But the truth? I’m not tired.
The truth is—I thought I didn’t love her anymore.
I started looking for answers.
I talked to other men who felt the same.
They said, ‘It’s normal. Love fades.’
But I wasn’t satisfied with that.
I thought… Why do women often stay loving and loyal to their husbands?
Why don’t their feelings disappear so easily?
Maybe the problem wasn’t her… maybe it was me.
So I went to see a psychologist.
He listened quietly, then asked:
“Do you believe in God?”
“Yes,” I said.
“Then follow His command. You will be healed, even without medicine.”
“What command?” I asked.
He recited the words of God:
“Tell the believing men to lower their gaze and guard their modesty. That is purer for them.”
(Surah An-Nur 24:30)
Then he said,
“Lower your gaze. Just try it for one month.”
I hesitated, but he said,
“Just follow it completely. You’ll see the result.”
As I left his office, a beautiful woman walked by.
I was tempted—but I remembered what the doctor said.
So I looked down… and kept walking.
The next days were very hard.
Temptations were everywhere—on the streets, on the screens.
And my once pure eyes had become used to impurity.
But I stayed strong. I tried my best.
On the 15th day, something changed.
My heart felt calm.
And I began to look at my wife… differently.
I came home early.
I called her name while looking for her.
She was busy in the kitchen.
Suddenly… my heart softened.
I hugged her—like we had just gotten married.
And I whispered,
“I love you. I never forgot. I was just lost.”
I went back to the doctor and thanked him.
He smiled and said,
“The month’s not over yet.”
I replied,
“But I’ve already learned enough.
I woke up. I found my love for her again…
like it was the first time.”
Then I looked up to the sky and said:
“Alhamdulillah wa shukrulillah ‘ala hadhihi an-ni‘mah.”
All praise and thanks be to Allah for this blessing.

Lesson for us, brothers:
The real problem often isn’t the wife’s shortcomings.
It’s when a man’s heart turns away from Allah’s guidance.
If we don’t guard our eyes, our hearts, and our desires—
We slowly lose joy in what is halal…
And start chasing what is haram.

Islam gives us the solution:
• Lower your gaze (Ghad al-basar): Avoid haram sights.
• Be grateful (Shukr): Remember your wife’s goodness.
• Fear Allah (Taqwa): Return to His commands.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“The world is full of pleasures. But the best pleasure of this world is a righteous wife.”
(Muslim, Hadith no. 1467)

A beautiful du’a:
اللَّهُمَّ اجعلني قنوعًا بِمَا رَزَقْتَنِي، وَبَارِكْ لِي فِيهِ، وَارْزُقْنِي حُبَّ أَهْلِي وَرِضَاهُمْ
“O Allah, make me content with what You’ve given me, bless it for me, and grant me love for my family and their love in return.”

And yes… this also applies even if you have two, three, or four wives.
