How do I START freelancing?

👉Research, research, research. Before you dive into any step, learn about freelancing, how it works etc.

👉Learn a high paying skill. Figure out what you like and if it is in demand. Spend a good amount of time learning it.

👉Create a portfolio. Don’t have clients? No worries, use fake samples to create a solid portfolio to show to clients.

👉Pick a platform to start on. Go to Facebook, Fiverr, Upwork, Guru, LinkedIn etc. Again, RESEARCH before you hop on these platforms.

👉Scale your income. Do this by diversifying your income sources, upskilling by learning and practising and upselling to the clients. Good customer service and communication skills will help retain loyal clients.

I wanted to come on here and share the story of how I started freelancing on Fiverr! Pandemic hit during my freshman year and by the time my semester was over, almost everyone in my batch was doing an internship. By the time I woke up and started looking for internships, they were either closed or I didn't get in. Since I wanted to do something productive with my time, I gave freelancing on Fiverr a try.

I researched online and was obsessed with this field for the good month of June. My search history was all 'how to earn online?' 'how to create gigs?' 'in-demand skills.' I finally got some professional coaching and set up my gigs on 1st July. I got my first order on 3rd July, and now I'm a Level 2 seller with more than 300 completed orders.

I can't deny the journey here wasn't rough, as is anything worth achieving. The feeling of satisfaction you get when clients leave raving reviews is worth it! When you see how proud your parents are of your independence keeps you going.

Those who know me know that whenever I learn something new, I love to teach it to my friends. I had identified a way to become self-sufficient when so many students struggle with this. I knew I had to come up with a way to help others learn how to earn online. This is how Meraki came into being. I want every student to know that they can earn and support themselves with a consistent income. You might be freelancing on Facebook or working for an agency, but the money earned does not help justify the effort.
