How To Prepare:
For English:
Go to testyourenglish.net and solve all tests.
Keep a diary and write a one-page article on a daily basis.
Speak to your friends in English. Chat with them in English.
Make your account on readtheory.org and do at least 4–5 lessons daily. [I did total 300+ lessons]
Download the Magoosh app from the playstore for vocabulary. Do at least one list daily.
Read novels/books or one article of Dawn newspaper or any English newspaper on a daily basis.
Remember: You have to do these all on DAILY basis. Please be consistent.
For Math:
Buy any edition of SAT #1 Barron’s book. Do all math topics from it and solve the exercise of each topic. Once done with them, solve all practice tests given at the end of the book.
If you still feel poor in Math, buy SAT Math Level 1 and SAT Math Level 2 books as well.

Test tricks and Technics
IBA’s test is not that much difficult. It’s just the game of time. Most students run out of time while attempting the test. The best way to save time specially in Math questions is not to stick to one question. If you are finding a question time-consuming, leave it and move to next. Imagine spending 5–8minutes on a question and still not being able to solve it? This not only wastes your time but discourages you that the test is rocket science for you.
Follow a strategy
If the question is difficult, leave it and move to next. This way solve all the questions that you can in the first phase and then try the ones that you left in the 2nd phase. The more questions you will solve, the more confidence you will get and guess what? Confidence is all that gets you through.
A general Fun Fact
- A & O level students are most of the time good at English and bad at Math.
- Intermediate students are most of the time good at Math and bad at English.
Final Note
IBA’s test is always unpredictable. When it comes to the English section, only memorizing just grammar rules and vocabulary will take you nowhere. You have to read, write and speak on a daily basis so that you actually understand the crux of the English language. For math, you must understand the ‘concepts’ because IBA is genius and they are going to confuse you with tricky questions, so identify your weakest area and work on it. If you are good at math, give more time to English. If you are good at English, give more time to math because only scoring a high score in one subject wouldn’t make a difference since IBA sets cut-off scores for both subjects and then a total cut-off. The cut-off score for both English and Math lies around 100 each and total cut off at around 250. Conclusively, if you do what I have said, I assure you, you will easily qualify the IBA test.
Study daily. Be consistent. Show dedication and determination and I will see you in IBA.
