🇬🇧 10 NEW UK IMMIGRATION CHANGES: What You Need to Know About HC 584
The UK Home Office has published Statement of Changes HC 584, introducing a number of important updates to the UK Immigration Rules across several immigration routes.
Here are 10 key changes you should know about:
1️⃣ Part Suitability – Immigration Law Breaches Extended
The grounds relating to breaches of immigration laws have been expanded.
2️⃣ Skilled Workers Facing Abuse
Certain Skilled Worker visa holders may be able to leave an abusive sponsor under the updated rules.
3️⃣ Human Rights Claims – Family Returns Process
The fee requirement has been removed in certain human rights claims made within the Family Returns Process.
4️⃣ Fee Waiver Applications – Application Date
New provisions clarify when an application is considered to have been made following a fee waiver request.
5️⃣ Variation Applications & Biometrics
New requirements clarify biometric enrolment when an application is varied.
6️⃣ Domestic Abuse Route Extended
Changes extend the Victim of Domestic Abuse provisions to certain adult children.
7️⃣ Visitor & Student Routes – Erasmus+
New provisions have been introduced for people coming to the UK under the Erasmus+ programme, including study, traineeships and job shadowing.
8️⃣ EU Settlement Scheme Changes
Several changes have been made to the EU Settlement Scheme and related provisions.
9️⃣ Settlement Requirements for BN(O) Children
Changes have been introduced concerning settlement and eligibility requirements for certain British National (Overseas) children/adult children.
🔟 Other Immigration Rule Changes
HC 584 also introduces various technical and administrative amendments across multiple immigration routes.
⚠️ Important: These changes will not affect everyone in the same way. The impact depends on your current immigration status, visa route, application date and individual circumstances.
📅 Many of the changes will come into force from 8 October 2026 , with further changes taking effect on 29 October, 30 November and 9 December 2026.
