Institute of Plant Sciences, University of Sindh, Signs MoU with Department of Biology, University of Haripur, KP for Research and Academic Collaboration
Jamshoro, November 17, 2025 – In a significant step toward strengthening academic and scientific collaboration, the Institute of Plant Sciences (IPS), University of Sindh, Jamshoro, and the University of Haripur, KP, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on November 17, 2025. The agreement aims to foster mutual cooperation in scientific research, joint publications, faculty and student exchange, and the organization of conferences and seminars.
The MoU was formally signed by Dr. Hadi Bux, on behalf of Prof. Dr. Rabia Asma Memon, Director, Institute of Plant Sciences, University of Sindh, and Riaz Muhammad, Registrar, University of Haripur, in the presence of Dr. Asma ul Husna, HOD, Department of Biology, and Prof. Dr. Azizullah, Dean, Faculty of Biological and Biomedical Sciences. The focal person for this collaboration is Dr. Hadi Bux, Associate Professor, IPS, University of Sindh, who officially visited the University of Haripur, where he signed the Memorandum and also delivered a talk.
Under this agreement, both institutions will work together on joint research initiatives, sharing technical, scientific, and logistical resources to enhance the quality of agricultural, botanical, and environmental research in Pakistan. The partnership also focuses on training researchers, facilitating student internships, and promoting knowledge exchange through academic events.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Azizullah, Dean, emphasized the importance of collaborative research in addressing critical challenges in biodiversity conservation, plant sciences, and sustainable agriculture. He stated, “This MoU will pave the way for stronger academic ties between our institutions, ensuring that faculty and students benefit from joint research projects and enriched learning opportunities.”
Dr. Asma ul Husna, HOD, Department of Biology, University of Haripur, also expressed her enthusiasm, highlighting the academic and technical benefits this partnership will bring. She remarked, “By joining forces, we can make significant contributions to the scientific community and strengthen the research capabilities of both institutions.”
The MoU, which will remain in effect for five years, also includes provisions for intellectual property rights protection, joint grant applications, and collaborative outreach initiatives. Both universities reaffirmed their commitment to academic excellence, scientific innovation, and research-driven development.
This partnership marks a new milestone in advancing plant sciences and botany research, fostering a culture of scientific exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration between two leading institutions in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
