An Enchanting Evening: Echoes of the Silk Road

We were privileged to experience a truly mesmerizing performance by the exceptionally talented trio of Zakariya Haffar (Santoor), Bilal Khan (Rabab), and Usman Shaquil (Percussion). Their passion for music and mastery of their craft left the audience spellbound, creating an unforgettable atmosphere of harmony and inspiration.

The evening began with Zakariya’s exquisite Santoor solos, where each note resonated like magic, captivating everyone in the room. His vocal renditions seamlessly intertwined with the instrumental pieces, adding a rich, soothing depth to his performance. Zakariya also introduced us to Turkish and other breathtaking compositions, lifting the audience to celestial heights with his artistry.

Bilal Khan followed with one of his original compositions, a soulful piece that seemed to capture the very essence of the universe. His delicate yet powerful mastery of the Rabab filled the room with profound melody, leaving the audience in awe of his extraordinary talent. His performance was super, earning heartfelt applause from everyone present.

The collaboration among the three artists brought the evening to life. The intricate interplay between the Santoor, Rabab, and Drums was nothing short of enchanting, evoking emotions of ecstasy and joy. The aptly named “Echoes of the Silk Road” celebrated the rich musical heritage of Central Asia, where these instruments trace their roots, creating a powerful connection between tradition and modernity.

After a long summer break 😃

Join us for an insightful conversation with Danial Shah, a photographer and filmmaker, who embarked on an overland journey from London to Quetta, Pakistan. Traveling entirely on public transport and using his Pakistani passport, Danial navigated through numerous border crossings, each with its own unique challenges and stories. His journey wasn't just about reaching a destination but about experiencing the intricate dynamics of international borders firsthand.

He is currently pursuing a PhD in arts in Belgium.
