Kreative Kinder Haus offers a creative space which integrates play and creativity with learning in a safe and nurturing environment allowing each child to flourish. I have studied and researched curriculum's from across Europe and have picked out the best features from each to develop my own unique curriculum which is an integrated approach to learning. Each child has his/her own strengths, rather than compartmentalizing and robotizing children from an early age, we provide an environment in which each child can find his/her own interests and strengths and we build on that and teach a child around that. The foundation of Kreative Kinder Haus rests on the following principles:
• Each child is unique and should be treated as such.
• Children are the next generation. They are the future caretakers of our planet and happy, healthy and confident children transform into happy, healthy confident adults. We provide the foundation to prepare children for their adult life.
• Children from the start should be treated as whole people who have feelings, thoughts and ideas. We nurture these to help children reach their full potential.
• Children learn in an integrated way. Our activities are designed in an integrative manner so that all subjects overlap and are not neatly compartmentalized or individualized. For example: on a rainy day we will take the kids out to find worms. When we find a worm we will talk to children about the worm, what it eats, how its body is made, where it lives etc. This will increase their general knowledge. Then we will help children collect leaves to make a leaf based house for the worm to teach children about nurturing and caring for others. Then we will do an indoor crafting activity to make a worm out of cotton wool, glue and sticks to help develop their fine motor skills. So our activities are holistic.
• Children learn best when they are given appropriate responsibility, allowed to make errors, decisions and choices, and respected as autonomous learners. We, from the start give children small tasks and chores to teach the responsibility and help them learn to be independent.
• In addition to all of the above, we believe self-discipline should go hand in hand with creativity and learning. Therefore, from the start we value a child’s efforts and guide them when they misstep so as to teach them through positive reinforcement rather than through negative reinforcement.
• We focus on what a child CAN DO rather than on what a child CANNOT DO.
• Kreative Kind Haus is all inclusive and believes every child should have the right to engage in creative learning.
• We provide favorable conditions for children to strive in all areas of life.
“Quality education is about three things: the child, the context in which learning takes place, and the knowledge and understanding which the child develops and learns” Tine Bruce
