COMSATS University Islamabad hosted the opening ceremony of the ANSO-CPJRC-COMSATS International Training Workshop on Disaster Risk Reduction and Green Development for CPEC at CUI Islamabad.

The five-day workshop, scheduled from 18 to 22 June 2026, is endorsed as an official activity of the United Nations International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (IDSSD 2024-2033). It brings together diplomats, researchers, government officials, practitioners, academics and early-career professionals from Pakistan and other countries to exchange knowledge and strengthen capacity in disaster risk reduction, climate resilience and green development.

The inaugural session emphasized the importance of universities, science-based policymaking, international cooperation and South-South collaboration in addressing climate-induced hazards, particularly in ecologically fragile and disaster-prone regions along CPEC.

CUI remains committed to advancing research, innovation and international partnerships for a safer, greener and more resilient future.

CUI Celebrates 75 Years of Pakistan-China Friendship with a Vibrant Musical Fusion

ISLAMABAD, May 21, 2026: COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) resonated with beautiful melodies today as the campus hosted a spectacular Pakistan-China Musical Show. Organized by the China Study Centre (CSC) under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sohail Asghar (Incharge Islamabad Campus), the event commemorated a historic milestone: 75 years of enduring diplomatic and cultural ties between Pakistan and China.
The event brought together students, faculty, and distinguished guests to celebrate the rich artistic heritage of both nations under the theme of "Trust, Friendship, and Support."
The highlight of the afternoon was a mesmerizing performance by the acclaimed Chinese musician and artist, Mr. Zhang Jian Ya, whose mastery of traditional music captivated the audience.
Adding to the cultural richness, the event also proudly showcased traditional Pakistani music. In a brilliant display of local talent, CUI students took to the stage to perform a series of classical and contemporary Pakistani musical pieces. The harmony of traditional Pakistani rhythms playing alongside Chinese melodies created a unique, cross-cultural symphony that perfectly symbolized the deep-rooted brotherhood between the two nations.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Sadia Haider (Incharge China Study Center) highlighted that music is a universal language that transcends borders. Events like these play a vital role in building cultural bridges, fostering youth diplomacy, and keeping the spirit of the Pakistan-China friendship alive in the hearts of the younger generation.

ISLAMABAD, May 12, 2026 – A three-member high-level delegation from the Pakistan Chinese Education Association (PCEA), led by Mr. Mabin, visited COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) today. The visit was conducted on the formal invitation of Ms. Sadia Haider, Incharge of the China Study Center (CSC) at CUI.

The delegation held a productive meeting with Prof. Dr. Sohail Asghar, Incharge Islamabad Campus. During the session, both parties discussed strategic frameworks for future collaboration, focusing on the internationalization of higher education and the deepening of bilateral academic relations. Prof. Dr. Sohail Asghar emphasized CUI’s commitment to providing a platform for cross-cultural learning and research excellence.

As part of their campus tour, the delegation visited the COMSATS Art Gallery, where they spent time viewing the current exhibition. The visit concluded with an agreement to pursue several key initiatives, including:

* The launch of specialized Chinese Language Training Courses at CUI.
* Organization of joint academic seminars to facilitate knowledge exchange.

"Strengthening Governance and Implementation Strategies for CPEC 2.0"

A high-level policy dialogue, “Strengthening Governance and Implementation Strategies for CPEC 2.0,” marking the launch of two pivotal reports on B2B cooperation and the strategic "5Cs" framework was organized by Institute of Regional Studies.

Qaisar Ahmad Shaikh, Federal Minister for the Board of Investment, attended as Chief Guest. He revealed that 70% of regulatory reforms aimed at cutting red tape have been completed. He urged the private sector to pivot from import-dependency toward technology transfer and export-oriented partnerships with China.

Ambassador Jauhar Saleem, President of IRS, noted that Pakistan is at a critical juncture. He emphasized that the success of CPEC 2.0 hinges on institutional coherence, human capital development, and maintaining a credible investment climate.

Mr. Shi Yuanqiang, Deputy Head of Mission at the Chinese Embassy, reviewed the successes of Phase I—including $20 billion in energy investments and the operationalization of the Rashakai SEZ. He reaffirmed China's commitment to aligning its 15th Five-Year Plan with Pakistan’s "Uraan" initiative, focusing on the five core corridors: Growth, Livelihood, Innovation, Green, and Open.

Ms. Sadia Haider, Incharge of the China Study Center, congratulated the IRS on the initiative. She remarked:

"This event serves as a vital bridge between policy and practice. By bringing together diplomats and stakeholders, we are moving beyond theoretical frameworks to identify the exact pathways needed for industrial relocation and sustainable B2B investment."

"Eternal Friendship" Art Exhibition to Commemorate 75 Years of Pakistan-China Diplomatic Ties

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — To honor the diamond jubilee of diplomatic relations between the People’s Republic of China and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the China Media Group (CMG) successfully organized the "Eternal Friendship" China-Pakistan Art Exhibition. The event served as a vibrant cultural bridge, showcasing the "Iron Brotherhood" and shared heritage of the two nations.

The ceremony was graced by the Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training, Ms. Wajiha Qamar, who attended as the Chief Guest. In her keynote address, Ms. Qamar emphasized that the bond between Pakistan and China extends far beyond strategic and diplomatic dimensions.

"Our relationship is deeply rooted at the people-to-people level, where strong cultural and civilizational harmony exists," Ms. Qamar stated. "This exhibition beautifully reflects that connection through colors and artistic expressions."

The Cultural Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy, Mr. Chen Peng, attending as the Guest of Honour, remarked that the exhibition is a testament to 75 years of friendship founded on mutual trust. He noted that by utilizing fine arts to highlight shared creative expressions, the event promotes a deeper mutual understanding that further solidifies the bilateral bond.

Also sharing her views, Ms. Farah Naz Akbar, Parliamentary Secretary for the National Heritage and Culture Division, highlighted that culture and fine arts are vital tools for bringing nations together. She noted that such platforms are essential for promoting mutual respect and lasting harmony.

Representing the academic sector, Ms. Sadia Haider, Incharge of the China Study Center at COMSATS University, attended the event and commended China Media Group for their leadership in organizing the showcase.
