Malir came together for education! 📚

PYCA, in partnership with Pakistan Coalition for Education - PCEd, brought students, parents, education officials, and political representatives together for a Town Hall.

The dialogue focused on skills training, better WASH facilities, equipped science labs, and school libraries to strengthen learning opportunities for students.

The momentum is significant: 𝗨𝗦$𝟮.𝟭 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘀𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗚𝗣𝗘, alongside $𝟭.𝟰 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼-𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀. GPE partner countries have also announced $𝟰𝟳𝟭 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 — 𝗮 𝟯𝟮% 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟯𝟬.

For civil society, the conversation cannot stop at mobilising more resources. It must also ask:
• Are countries investing enough in education?
• Are resources reaching those who face the greatest barriers?
• Holding governments and partners accountable for the commitments they make.

This is a step forward in the journey to and as the global conversation moves forward, the work continues at home: 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁.

What do communities want for their schools?
At our Town Hall in Tando Hyder, Hyderabad, community members raised priorities that matter:
- clean drinking water and functional washrooms
- well-equipped and accessible libraries and labs
- teaching in learners' language &
- opportunities for girls to continue their education beyond Matric.

But they also shared where resources are reaching schools and change is already happening.

Decision-makers must listen to communities, respond to their priorities, and ensure that promised resources translate into functioning facilities and meaningful learning opportunities.
