"Safar to Karbala"

8 Zilhaj, 60th Hijri (680 AD) was the date when Imam Hussain a.s, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), left Madina to travel to Karbala in order to take care of a few matters regarding Islam.
Imam Hussian a.s was accompanied by his family members including women n children and a few of his companions.

A number of Imam Hussain's a.s loved ones told him not to go to Kufa but Imam a.s told them the people of Kufa had invited him and as their Imam, he had to perform his duty.
Imam Hussain a.s went to Mecca first and wished to perform Hajj before continuing his journey to Karbala.

Imam Hussain a.s came to know that Yazid had assassins sent to kill the Imam. Imam a.s did not wish the House of Allah to be turned into a battlefield so he decided to leave Mecca without performing pilgrimage. For the sake of Allah.

Before leaving Madina, Imam Hussain a.s had sent his Cousin, Hazrat Muslim a.s, to Kufa to see how can Imam Hussain a.s help the people of Kufa. When Hazrat Muslim a.s got to Kufa and saw that people of Kufa didn't wanted Yazid as their Khalifa and want to pay allegiance to Imam Hussain a.s, Hazrat Muslim a.s wrote a letter to Imam Hussain a.s telling him that the people of Kufa are in need of Imam's a.s help and will stand by him when he arrives.
Unfortunately, that did not happen. The people of Kufa betrayed Imam Hussain a.s and even left Hazrat Muslim alone which led to Hazrat Muslim getting killed by the people supporting Yazid. Just after a little while of staying in Kufa, Hazrat Muslim had understood that the kufi will betray Imam Hussain but he did not even get a chance to write a letter to the Imam a.s and let him know this news. Imam Hussain a.s, not knowing the recent changes that took place in Kufa, started his journey and as he was close to Kufa, he was stopped by Yazid's army in Karbala, which at the time was nothing but a desert...

Today any of us that knows Karbala and loves Imam Hussain a.s says,"I wish I was in Karbala. I'd do everything to help Imam Hussain a.s"

Every time has its own Imam a.s , Its own Hussain a.s. Our Hussain a.s is Mahdi a.j, the 12th and last Imam. Are we trying to do everything we can to help our time's Hussain a.s?
May Allah send Imam Mahdi a.j soon and may we be ready when Imam a.j comes. Lets try, hope n wish that we don't betray and leave Imam Mahdi a.j like Kufi left Imam Hussain a.s.
