For PMS KP(2025) Aspirants

It is a great opportunity for aspirants to serve the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the entry level as Section Officers in the Secretariat and as Assistant Commissioners in the field. The Provincial Management Service (PMS) offers excellent career progression and a diverse arena to work towards better public service delivery.

1. Take the Screening Test seriously and clear it. You can prepare using any online source (e.g., PakMcqs) or purchase a good MCQs book such as Caravan or World Times General Knowledge Book.

2. For the Written Exam, choose your optional subjects wisely. Your aptitude and interest in the subject should be the determining factors. Also, check the scoring trends of different subjects.

3.My optional subjects were Political Science, European History, and Philosophy, and I scored well. Prepare your subjects topic-wise from reliable sources, and utilize tools like ChatGPT and DeepSeek. Avoid substandard books or sources. Be consistent and committed to your goal, dedicating 8 to 10 hours daily for preparation. Allocate sufficient time to each subject. Prepare notes, attempt past papers, and consult seniors and teachers for evaluation. Structure your preparation in a way that allows you to revise the entire syllabus effectively.
Remember: Consistency is the key to success in this journey.

4.. Let me share the sources I used for my optional subjects:
For Political Science
Political Theory
1. Political Science: Theory and Practice by Mazhar ul Haq
2. Politics by Andrew Heywood
Western Thought
1. Political Thought: From Plato to the Present by Judd Harmon
2. Western Political Thought by Brian R. Nelson
Muslim Political Thought
1. Political Thought in Medieval Islam by E.I.J. Rosenthal or Muslim Political Thought by Dr. Sultan Khan
Constitutions
1. World Constitutions by Sohail Bhatti and S.L. Kealay

For Philosophy:
1. Sophie’s World by Jostein Gaarder
2. The Story of Philosophy by Will Durant
3. World Times Philosophy Book by Turab Kirmani
4. Muslim Philosophy by Saeed Sheikh
5. Also, consult philosophybasicsdotcom

For Logic
1. Logic by Patrick Hurley and ChatGPT (topic-wise)

For European History
1. History of Modern Europe by V.D. Mahajan
2. Aspects of European History by Stephen J. Lee (for analysis)
3. David Thomson’s book (lengthy but useful for specific topics)
4. Farukh Sultan’s book
5. Search for topics on the History Channel as well

"spinning through the corridor's
of your timeless mind
getting lost in your dreams
tucked away in your rhymes.

effortless are my movements
as I traverse your beautiful mind
like a never ending free fall
just tumbling through your skies"

John Zeller

If there is a manifesto for leadership, IF the poem
 by RUDYARD KIPLING would be that manifesto.

IF

If you can keep your head when all about you
  Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
 But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
 Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
 And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
  If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
  And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
  Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
 And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
  And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
  And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
  To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
  Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
  Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
 If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
  With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
  And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son! 21/05/2024
