Program Manager BBA, Department of Management Sciences, SZABIST University Islamabad Dr. Shumaila Zeb organized the Community Services Project (CSP) Proposal Writing session on September 19, 2026.

The session aimed to equip students with practical skills to develop well-structured and socially relevant CSP proposals by identifying real community needs and translating them into meaningful project ideas.

As a result, students developed a clearer understanding of how to structure their proposals and design community projects that address relevant social issues.

MSPM Fall 2026 Orientation

The MSPM Orientation was held on 19 September 2026, welcoming the new cohort to SZABIST University Islamabad as they begin their journey in Project Management.

Dr. Khansa Zaman, Associate Professor and Program Manager MSPM, warmly welcomed the students and shared an overview of the journey ahead. Mr. Amer Riaz Qureshi, Assistant Professor and Program Manager MPM, also addressed the students and shared insights into the learning experience and opportunities that await them.

The orientation introduced students to the program’s focus on combining academic learning with practical experiences, assignments, project-based learning, research, and real-world applications of project management. Students were encouraged to actively participate, learn from their faculty and peers, and make the most of the experiences and opportunities that come with the program.

Anti-Harassment Awareness Session 1

SZABIST University Islamabad organized an Anti-Harassment Awareness Session on Tuesday, 22 September 2026, for fresh students of BS (BA)-1A, BS (Psychology)-1, BS IR-1, BS Economics with Data Science-1, and BBA-1A at the University Auditorium.

The session focused on creating awareness about harassment, responsible social media use, student support services, and the shared responsibility of maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive campus environment.

The session aimed to: Create awareness about harassment and its forms. Help students understand the importance of respectful and appropriate behavior in academic and social environments. Promote responsible use of social media and awareness of its potential social and psychological impacts. Familiarize students with the academic, behavioral, financial, career, and psychological counseling services available at SZABIST.

By the end of the session, students were expected to recognize behaviors that may constitute harassment and understand their impact on individuals and the learning environment. Develop awareness of responsible digital and social media practices. Identify appropriate university support and counseling services when assistance is needed. Recognize their role in promoting a respectful, safe, and supportive campus community.

The session was facilitated and organized by Dr. Shumaila Zeb, Program Manager, BBA, and Ms. Amber Gillani, Lecturer, Social Sciences & Focal Person, Wellness Clinic. The presentation also highlighted the Wellness Clinic as a source of psychological counseling and support for students.

At SZABIST, creating a safe and supportive learning environment is a shared responsibility. Every student has a role to play in fostering respect, awareness, inclusion, and responsible behavior.

BBA Fall 2026 Orientation Session,The Department of Management Sciences, SZABIST University Islamabad, organized an Orientation Session for first-semester BBA students of Fall 2026 on September 15, 2026.

The session was held to warmly welcome the newly enrolled students and familiarize them with the university’s academic environment, program structure, and learning opportunities.

A two-day professional training workshop on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) was successfully conducted at Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST), Islamabad Campus, on 29–30 August 2026. The workshop was designed to enhance participants’ knowledge and practical skills in the application of ACT for psychological well-being and mental health interventions.

The training was facilitated by Dr. Syeda Razia Bukhari, a distinguished Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Postdoctoral Fellow at the Islamic Research Institute (IRI), International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), and Associate Professor & Student Counselor in the Faculty of Education and Social Sciences at SZABIST, Islamabad Campus.

During the workshop, participants were introduced to the theoretical foundations and evidence-based principles of ACT, including:

Psychological flexibility
Acceptance and mindfulness techniques
Cognitive defusion strategies
Present-moment awareness
Self-as-context
Values clarification
Committed action

Interactive activities, case discussions, role plays, experiential exercises, and practical demonstrations were incorporated to help participants understand the effective use of ACT techniques in clinical, educational, and counseling settings. The workshop emphasized the application of ACT in addressing stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, emotional regulation problems, and other psychological concerns.

The training provided an excellent opportunity for faculty members, students, counselors, and mental health professionals to strengthen their therapeutic competencies and gain hands-on experience in applying ACT principles in professional practice. Participants highly appreciated the workshop for its practical orientation, interactive learning environment, and relevance to contemporary mental health practice.

SZABIST Media Sciences Organizes Two-Day Constructive Journalism Training in Collaboration with Bytes for All

September 2026: The Department of Media Sciences at SZABIST Islamabad, under the SZABIST Centre for Media Innovation & Incubation (SCMIÂł), organized a two-day training programme on Constructive Journalism in collaboration with Bytes for All (B4A), Pakistan, a human rights organization and research think tank.

Twelve aspiring journalism students from the BS Media Sciences and MS Media Sciences programmes participated in the training, which focused on equipping emerging media professionals with practical approaches to reporting stories beyond negativity and conflict while maintaining journalistic accuracy, fairness and accountability.

The training introduced participants to the principles of Constructive Journalism, including its three key pillars—solutions, nuances, and democratic conversation—and explored how journalists can identify and develop constructive stories. Participants also learned the four essential elements of a solutions story: Response, Evidence of Results, Insights/Information, and Limitations.

The second day focused on practical reporting, constructive interviewing, story pitching, reporting under deadline constraints, audience engagement and the use of social media to encourage meaningful public participation in journalism.

A key feature of the programme was the Session with Editors, which brought together academic and industry perspectives. The panel included Dr. Wajid Zulqarnain and Dr. Naveed from SZABIST, along with Shah Abdul Sabookh, Editor, Indus Broadcasting Communications (IBC News). The session provided students with practical insights into newsroom standards, editorial decision-making, constructive journalism and the importance of building audience trust in Pakistani media.

The programme combined presentations, discussions, group activities, story analysis, practical exercises, story pitching and an open Q&A session, giving participants an opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world journalism practices.

The training concluded with an emphasis on developing a more informed, nuanced and solution-oriented approach to journalism and preparing the next generation of media professionals to engage audiences through responsible and constructive storytelling.

SZABIST Islamabad, through its Department of Social Sciences – Development Studies, hosted a three-day Training of Trainers under the Training Adolescents and Youth for Action and Resilience (TAYAR) Programme, as part of the National Volunteer Corps (NVC) project of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, in collaboration with UNICEF Pakistan and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Pakistan.

The training brought together Green Youth Movement (GYM) Captains and Vice-Captains from 13 universities across Islamabad, Punjab, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Training of Trainers focused on disaster risk reduction, emergency preparedness, anticipatory action, climate resilience, and community engagement, equipping young leaders with the knowledge and facilitation skills to take these learnings forward through their universities, communities, and GYM chapters.
