IMF Scrutiny
An IMF delegation (وفد) is in Islamabad to assess (جانچنا، پرکھنا) progress on the Fund’s ongoing $7bn funding programme (پروگرام) amidst hopes that the review will not encounter (سامنا کرنا) any serious obstacles (رکاوٹیں) that could delay the next tranche (قسط).
The mission (مشن، وفد) will evaluate how Pakistan has done on quantitative (مقداری) performance criteria (معیارات), structural (ساختی) benchmarks (بینچ مارک، معیاری اہداف), and indicative (اشاریہ جات، اندازے پر مبنی) targets for the first half of the current fiscal (مالی) year. There have been some “technical slippages (پھسلن، تاخیر),” such as delays in meeting the deadlines (آخری تاریخیں) for certain goals, like legislation (قانون سازی) on agriculture (زرعی) tax.
Officials insist (اصرار کرنا) that they have covered all the bases, although the failure (ناکامی) to meet the tax target will likely remain a major source (ذریعہ) of worry. Yet, the officials are confident (پُر اعتماد) that the IMF will ignore the slippages (کمی، تاخیر) in the tax target because of a “higher-than-targeted primary budget surplus (بنیادی بجٹ اضافی رقم) and greater-than-estimated revenue-to-GDP ratio (آمدن کا جی ڈی پی کے ساتھ تناسب).”
The FBR attributes the shortfall (کمی) largely to reduced tax collection from imports (درآمدات), sluggish (سست، کمزور) LSM (بڑی صنعتیں) growth, and an unexpected drop (کمی، گراوٹ) in inflation (مہنگائی). The IMF’s response to the tax shortfall remains to be seen. However, the stock market’s decline (کمی، گراوٹ) betrays (ظاہر کرنا) investors’ anxiety (پریشانی، بے چینی) at the anticipated contingency (ہنگامی، ممکنہ) measures under the Fund’s pressure to pull off (حاصل کرنا) the actual tax target.
The investors’ anxiety notwithstanding (باوجود), the IMF’s scrutiny (جانچ پڑتال) of Pakistan’s performance is most likely to progress smoothly (آسانی سے آگے بڑھنا) without any harsh (سخت، کڑا) new conditions for the second half of the present fiscal (مالی) year, or punitive (سزایافتہ، سخت) demands from the lender for tax slippages (کمی، تاخیر). That said, the ongoing review will be critical (اہم، نازک) in determining (متعین کرنا، فیصلہ کرنا) how the economy moves forward.
On its success (کامیابی) depend the strengthening (مضبوطی) of economic stability (استحکام), official flows (آمدن کے ذرائع) from other multilateral agencies (کثیر الجہتی ادارے), and upgradation (بہتری، ترقی) of the sovereign credit rating (ریاستی قرضہ درجہ بندی), which is crucial (انتہائی ضروری) to Islamabad’s plans to raise funds from international bond markets (بانڈ مارکیٹس). Any hiccups (رکاوٹیں، مسائل) in the programme would put paid to (ختم کر دینا، ناممکن بنانا) these plans and lead to a new wave of uncertainty (غیر یقینی صورتحال) and volatility (اتار چڑھاؤ، غیر مستحکم صورتحال).
For now, the macroeconomic (معاشی، بڑے پیمانے پر اقتصادی) indicators suggest a temporary (عارضی) reprieve (ریلیف، عارضی راحت): the rupee (روپیہ) has held steady (مستحکم), inflation has plunged (گرنا، تیزی سے کمی آنا) to 1.4%, the current account (موجودہ کھاتہ) is running a surplus (اضافہ ہونا) of over $600m, remittances (ترسیلات زر) have jumped to over $3bn a month, and exports (برآمدات) are showing resilience (مضبوطی، استحکام).
These improvements are mostly due to financial support (مدد، معاونت) from the IMF and bilateral (دو طرفہ) lenders, as well as stability in the global commodity (اجناس، اشیاء تجارت) markets. The price (قیمت، نقصان) for this fragile (نازک، غیر مستحکم) stability has been massive though: a sharp (تیز، شدید) slowdown (سست روی) in domestic growth (ترقی، بڑھوتری) as well as rising unemployment (بے روزگاری) and poverty (غربت).
With the second Trump presidency (صدارت) in the US shaking up (ہلا دینا، متاثر کرنا) the global economic and political order (نظام، ترتیب), the need for freeing (آزاد کرنا) the economy from the clutches (چنگل، گرفت) of the forces of status quo (موجودہ صورتحال، جمود) and restructuring (دوبارہ ترتیب دینا) it to get it back on its feet has never been so compelling (مؤثر، ضروری). The current IMF bailout (بیل آؤٹ، مالی مدد) could be the last opportunity to avoid a repeat (دہرائی، دوبارہ ہونا) of the past.

*Warning to New Aspirants for CSS/PMS"
In next few hours, there is going to be bombardment of claims that paper is from predictions given by flaana mock and flaani predictions. But stop believing that and try to bring creativity to ace this paper.
For example, I also covered AI, Politics, Globalization, Global political landscape, Development with candidates in contact with me. Does it mean that paper was from my predictions? No, absolutely not.
FPSC is very peculiar about its dimensions and if someone has covered it from that veŕy dimension asked by FPSC, it is just a coincidence.
So, stop believing in rumours that hmara btaya huwa paper agya and prepare yourself as per instructions of FPSC's examiner.
Best Regards

FOR ENGLISH, TEACHER IS A MUST BUT DO FOCUS ON THESE ASPECTS!
Shah Samad Hamadani (43rd CTP)
Over the course of years that I have been mentoring through this ID, I have switched my focus from guiding about preparation techniques of different subjects to motivation and ameliorating the writing skills of the aspirants. Reason being that any aspirant can collect and cram stuff from anywhere on the internet but it is the motivation and writing skills that matter the most during the prep phase of CSS exam and it is these two things which suffer from the paucity.
So, I will be carrying on the tradition of writing about the motivational stuff accompanied with some tips and tricks to polish the writing skills of aspirants. Though writing skills is one thing which cannot be achieved without the constant presence of a competent mentor, yet there are some practices which can aid you in polishing your writing skills faster than any ordinary aspirant.
First of all, all the aspirants need to understand the significance of handwriting in any exam, be it CSS or any other exam. Unless the examiner cannot comprehend what you have written, he will not be able/willing to give you marks for your writing regardless of the fact that your expressions and facts were flawless.
Moreover, the examiner is too short of time to exert his mind and time to understand what you wrote since he has to check hundreds of papers in one go. If he does not get what you have written, he will simply either cross what you wrote or move on to your next paragraph.
Do not expect the examiner to spare his precious time to understand your illegible handwriting. No, my dears! That is not the practice. It is YOU and not him who needs to make his/her ideas clear through writing.
Therefore, make your handwriting legible and catchy. Show your handwriting to different people and take their opinions rather than judging your handwriting by yourself because you will always be biased in this regard.
At first, it will definitely be difficult to improve your handwriting and make it legible, but hey! It is always practice which makes one perfect. And I’d say again; there is no point in writing impressive English if your handwriting is not legible.
Secondly, I have been coaching aspirants in English subjects for over two years and I have noticed one general trend among them. That trend is the tendency NOT to read any extra books or stuff apart from the syllabus of any course. That has become our national dilemma.
While tragic indeed, we as a nation suffer in the long run due to our habit of finding reading a tedious activity. When aspirants come to me for coaching and I ask them whether they have read any book apart from the syllabi of subjects, the answer is always in negative. All of us need to understand that if one needs to write good, one needs to READ good as well.
Reading is the thing which makes you aware about the art of writing. You get to know how to write and express yourself. It is the activity which builds your writing skills unconsciously. Therefore, read some good books regularly and focus on how a writer has expressed himself. Notice the techniques and the ways and then try to imitate it in your writing.
It is not to suggest that you should absolutely copy/paste a person’s way of writing but you must take bits and pieces (in terms of techniques, vocabulary, expression) from different books and incorporate them in your writing.
