Dr. Aisha Anees Malik Assumes Charge as Director, Centre of Excellence in Gender Studies, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad

The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, vide its notification dated 21st September 2026, has appointed renowned gender expert Dr. Aisha Anees Malik as Director of the Centre of Excellence in Gender Studies, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, for a period of four years.

Dr. Malik, who holds a PhD and MPhil from the University of Cambridge and an MBA from Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), has a strong background in teaching and research in the field of Gender Studies as well as in academic administration. Her appointment will further strengthen the Centre’s academic and research activities and enhance its contribution to the field of Gender Studies at both national and international levels.

Upon assuming charge, Dr. Malik expressed her commitment to quality in teaching and research, strengthening academic programmes, and providing greater opportunities for students and researchers.

The Centre of Excellence in Gender Studies is committed to promoting Gender Studies as an academic discipline in Pakistan and serves as a platform for teaching, research, dialogue, and knowledge production on gender-related issues.

Faculty members, researchers, and students of the Centre welcomed Dr. Aisha Anees Malik and conveyed their best wishes for a successful tenure as Director. They expressed hope that her leadership will contribute significantly to the further development and visibility of the Centre.
