Secretary MoFEPT, Mr. Nadeem Mahbub, visited an NCHD Non-Formal Education Centre in Bhara Kahu to observe the impact of newly distributed Teacher Aid Kits designed to strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy for out-of-school children.
Through this initiative, MoFEPT has distributed 3,450 Teacher Aid Kits across ICT, AJK, and GB, promoting interactive, activity-based, and child-centered learning in non-formal classrooms.
The visit reflects the Government’s continued commitment to improving learning outcomes by empowering teachers and introducing innovative, practical teaching tools at the community level.

ALP Middle Tech Closing Ceremony was held at Chiniot. The event was graced by the presence of DG NCHD, CEO PHDF, DOP, DD Education, and AD Education from PO. Chief Advisor JICA Pakistan, AC, CEO Education, Director GCUF, DD Colleges, Principals of Colleges, Mohtamims of various Madaris, teachers, and students also attended the event.
During the ceremony, teachers were awarded certificates and shields in recognition of their dedicated services and valuable contribution towards promoting education. DG NCHD, CEO PHDF, and other distinguished speakers highlighted the importance of education in Madaris and emphasized the vital role of educated youth in the development of society and the country.
The speakers appreciated the efforts being made under the ALP Middle Tech Program for providing quality education and technical skills to students, enabling them to become productive members of society. The event concluded with a strong commitment from all stakeholders to continue supporting educational initiatives for a brighter future.

Activity: Ribbon-cutting ceremony of the newly constructed building of CFS by the Worthy Director General, NCHD,
Venue: Community Feeder School Nakar Pothi
The Worthy Director General of National Commission for Human Development, accompanied by the AJ&K team, was accorded a warm reception at the Community Feeder School by the District Counselor, schoolteacher, community representatives, and student delegates. The primary objective of the visit was to evaluate the operational standards of the Community Feeder School, assess the academic performance of students, review the availability of educational supplies, and inspect the newly constructed school building established by the community.
Following the warm welcome reception, a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for the inauguration of the newly constructed school building, which had been completed by the community on a self-help basis.
The ceremony reflected the dedication, cooperation, and collective efforts of the local community towards promoting education and providing an improved learning environment for children. In recognition of the visit, the local community also organized a reception program in honor of the Worthy Director General.During the visit, the Worthy Director General, along with the accompanying team, conducted a comprehensive inspection of the school premises and the newly constructed building established through the collective efforts of the community, the District Counselor, and the Khawaja Zaheer Iqbal Memorial Foundation.
The team reviewed the educational activities being carried out at the school and assessed the overall learning environment and management practices.
Valuable suggestions presented by the District Counselor were carefully noted for consideration in future planning and policy formulation.The Worthy Director General expressed his appreciation for the quality of education being imparted at the Community Feeder School and acknowledged the provision of school supplies made possible through effective community mobilization by the field team.
DG commended the school administration for maintaining a conducive and disciplined learning environment and lauded the dedication, commitment, and sincere efforts demonstrated by the teaching staff.The Director General also appreciated the active participation and support of the community in the construction of the school building as well as in organizing the reception program. He emphasized the importance of sustained community involvement in strengthening educational initiatives and ensuring the long-term development of the institution.
In conclusion, the Worthy Director General provided guidance to the teaching staff and community representatives for further enhancing the quality of education and ensuring the continued progress, sustainability, and excellence of the Community Feeder School.

Activity: “Roshan Mustaqbil” – Career Counselling & Awareness Seminar for Accelerated Learning Middle Tech (ALP) Middle Tech Students and Closing Ceremony

A closing ceremony of the Accelerated Learning Program (ALP) Middle Tech was organized with great enthusiasm and dignity. The Worthy Director General, Ali Asghar, participated in the event as the Chief Guest. The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Commissioner Bagh, District Education Officer Bagh, Director Religious Affairs AJ&K, Associate Professor of Women University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Bagh, Managing Director of Cambridge International School, Muhtamims of Madaris, Madrasa teachers, and students from six participating Madaris.The speakers highlighted the significance of integrating Madrasa students into the mainstream education system. The program commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome address highlighting the objectives and achievements of the ALP Middle Tech Program. During the ceremony, students showcased their learning outcomes and expressed their gratitude to NCHD for providing educational opportunities through the program.
The Director General appreciated the efforts of the Madaris administration, teachers, and students for their active participation and commitment towards education and skill development. He emphasized the importance of continuing educational initiatives aimed at empowering youth through quality learning opportunities.
The Worthy Director General highlighted that the Accelerated Learning Programme (ALP) Middle Tech would gradually be transformed into a lifelong learning model, inspired by the successful educational framework of China. He emphasized that NCHD would coordinate with different donor organizations to strengthen and expand such initiatives for the benefit of students.
The DG NCHD stressed the importance of learning from successful models around the world and stated that progress can only be achieved when nations remain open to innovation and positive change. He observed that the literacy rate in Pakistan remains lower compared to neighboring countries such as China and India. Therefore, he underlined the need to equip students with practical and technical skills without imposing heavy financial burdens on them. He suggested that students should be trained in fields such as driving, cooling and refrigeration, and other vocational trades to enable them to become productive members of society.
Addressing the Madrasa students, he remarked that “the sky is the limit” for those who are determined to succeed. He encouraged students to value their time and strive continuously for excellence and self-development. He further highlighted the rapid evolution of Information Technology (IT), stating that modern systems, including airplanes and other advanced technologies, are increasingly dependent on IT and digital innovation.
Sharing his international experiences, he spoke about the remarkable development of China and mentioned that new avenues of growth and opportunities are emerging there every day. He also shared his visit to the Microsoft offices in United States, where he observed highly skilled professionals working continuously on innovation and technological advancement. He emphasized that the real power behind development is the human brain, skills, and knowledge.
During his visit to China, he also witnessed robots performing different activities such as packing and industrial operations, which demonstrated the future direction of technology and automation.
In his concluding remarks, the Worthy Director General addressed the Muhtamims and stated that Madrasa students are very special because they stay away from their families in pursuit of education, while their parents remain hopeful for their bright future and better qualifications. He assured the participants that NCHD would continue enhancing various interventions in Madaris, and this valuable relationship and collaboration would remain strong in the future.
Shields were also presented to the Chief Guest and other distinguished guests as a token of respect and appreciation.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, refreshments and dinner were served to all participants and guests. The event ended in a pleasant and encouraging atmosphere with a renewed commitment towards promoting education and skills development in the community.

On 16 May 2026, Keiko Mizuno and Suzuka Kuriki visited the ALP Center at Dera Kabir Tarnol to observe the educational activities and interact closely with the students and teaching staff. The delegation spent nearly two hours at the center in a highly interactive and encouraging environment, where they appreciated the learning atmosphere, student confidence, and the dedication of the teaching staff. NCHD Director Education Habibullah Khan, FO Shafiullah, along with the JICA team members Abid Gill DCP and Bilal Aziz Program specialist were also present during the visit and briefed the delegation on the status, challenges, and progress of Non-Formal Education (NFE) initiatives in Pakistan, particularly the role of Accelerated Learning Program (ALP) centers in mainstreaming out-of-school children into the formal education system.
During the visit, teacher Sumera Kabir provided a comprehensive briefing on the achievements of the center, particularly highlighting the remarkable performance of students in the 5th grade examinations. She proudly informed the delegation that several students of the ALP Center had successfully transitioned and been mainstreamed into 6th grade classes in schools under the Federal Directorate of Education, reflecting the effectiveness and impact of the Accelerated Learning Program in bringing disadvantaged and out-of-school children back into the education stream.
The delegation held detailed discussions with the students regarding their educational experiences, future ambitions, and classroom activities. The students remained highly excited and motivated throughout the interaction and confidently shared their aspirations of pursuing higher education and serving Pakistan in different professional fields.
The visitors appreciated the enthusiasm, discipline, and patriotism demonstrated by the students and commended the efforts of the teacher and management for creating a supportive and inspiring learning environment in an underserved community. The visit concluded with words of encouragement from the delegation, who acknowledged the important contribution of ALP centers towards promoting inclusive, equitable, and quality education for marginalized children in Pakistan.

On 12th May 2026, a meeting was held at the UNESCO Country Office in Islamabad between officials of the National Commission for Human Development and UNESCO representatives. During the meeting, Director General NCHD, Ali Asghar, gave a comprehensive briefing on the progress, achievements, and ongoing initiatives of NCHD, highlighting the organization’s continued efforts in promoting literacy, non-formal education, and community development across Pakistan.
The Country Representative of UNESCO in Pakistan, Fuad Pashayev, appreciated the significant contributions and impactful work being carried out by NCHD, particularly under the Each One Teach One (EOTO) initiative, Accelerated Learning Program (ALP), and Non-Formal Education programmes. He acknowledged NCHD’s vital role in expanding access to education and improving literacy outcomes in underserved communities.
During the discussion, Mr. Pashayev also expressed keen interest in online digital courses for literacy educators and emphasized the importance of integrating modern digital learning approaches into literacy and teacher training programmes. He further suggested exploring the possibility of designing customized digital training courses specifically for NCHD Master Trainers to strengthen their digital competencies and enhance the effectiveness of literacy and NFE programmes nationwide.

NCHD & SMILE Pakistan Partner to Drive Literacy and Human Development in Pakistan
30th April 2026: The National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) and SMILE Pakistan, a youth-oriented NGO, have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on initiatives aimed at promoting literacy, education, peace, and community empowerment across Pakistan.
This strategic partnership seeks to combine efforts to enhance access to quality education, foster interfaith harmony, and promote socio-economic development through innovative programs such as Each One, Teach One (EOTO). The collaboration will also include safety awareness campaigns in coordination with Rescue 1122, Traffic Police, and other relevant organizations.

Advocacy and awareness campaigns in Islamabad, with plans for nationwide expansion

NCHD Conducts Orientation Session on "Each One, Teach One" Initiative at PIDE
The National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) organized an orientation session on its flagship “Each One, Teach One” (EOTO) initiative at the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics on 27th April 2026. The session was attended by more than 50 faculty members, along with MPhil and PhD scholars.
The session was highly interactive, providing participants with an opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions and develop a clear understanding of their roles as literacy teachers.
The Director General of NCHD, Ali Asghar, graced the event as the chief guest. In his address, he emphasized the critical importance of literacy as a foundation for sustainable national development. He highlighted NCHD’s ongoing efforts to combat illiteracy and shared that the Commission has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with over 100 universities across Pakistan. Through these partnerships, thousands of learners have been enrolled under the EOTO programme to receive essential literacy education.
Mr. Ali Asghar appreciated the enthusiasm and commitment of the participants and underscored the transformative role of educated youth and volunteers in addressing literacy challenges at the grassroots level.
Addressing the audience, Prof. Dr. Karim Khan, Dean Academics, highlighted the importance of literacy for national progress and emphasized the vital role of youth in driving positive change.
Dr. Amina Noreen, Director QEC, also encouraged students to actively participate in nation-building efforts through educational service.
The NCHD delegation included Syed Akbar Ali (Director Literacy), Dr. Tahir Zubair, Hakim Ali Mastoi, and Hasan Abbas. The team provided a comprehensive briefing on the literacy situation in Pakistan, including comparisons with regional and global contexts. They also elaborated on the implementation strategy of the EOTO initiative, covering its significance, roles and responsibilities, teaching methodologies, recording and reporting mechanisms, and assessment processes. Participants were encouraged to actively contribute to community-based educational outreach.
The session concluded with a strong commitment from participants to support the EOTO initiative and contribute towards improving literacy rates in Pakistan.
