NUST Placement Office Orientation Session for NSHS Students
The NUST Placement Office (NPO) conducted an orientation session for the students of BS (HND) semester 2 at the NUST School of Health Sciences (NSHS) on 21 September 2026 at 11:00 AM.
Ms. Maryam Akmal, GMO, NUST Placement Office, along with her team, provided students with an overview of NPO’s role and operations, particularly in facilitating student and graduate placements in industry, internships, and career opportunities.
The session also highlighted the important steps for students to register and document their internships through Qalam, helping them understand the procedures and requirements for successfully managing their internship experiences.
An interactive Q&A session provided students with an opportunity to ask questions, clarify concerns, and engage directly with Ms. Maryam Akmal and her team.
During her visit, Ms. Maryam Akmal also met with the Principal, NSHS, Prof. Dr. Rizwan Ashraf, and the Head of Department, Dr. Abdul Momin Rizwan, to discuss the orientation objectives and NPO's broader role in creating bilateral opportunities for NUST students and international students. The discussion included opportunities for NUST students to undertake internships abroad, attract international students to NUST for internships, and strengthen industry and international linkages.
The session provided NSHS students with valuable insights into the opportunities and support available through the NUST Placement Office as they prepare for their professional journeys.

🤝 Advancing Innovation in Health & Nutrition | NSHS–Dr. Smart Go
The NUST School of Health Sciences (NSHS) marked another significant milestone in strengthening its external collaborations with the signing of a Document of Understanding (DOU) with Dr. Smart Go on 15 September 2026.
The DOU was signed by Dr. Ahsan Zafar, CEO & Founder, Dr. Smart Go, and Dr. Syed Hassan Bukhari, representing a shared commitment to advancing opportunities at the intersection of health, technology, education, research, and professional development.
The collaboration aims to create meaningful avenues for academic engagement, research initiatives, practical learning, knowledge exchange, and student development, particularly supporting the evolving role of innovation and technology in healthcare and nutrition.
The initiative reflects NSHS’s continued efforts to cultivate dynamic partnerships with healthcare and technology organizations, providing students with broader exposure to emerging practices and strengthening the connection between academic learning and professional environments.

From managing registrations and logistics to supporting scientific sessions, coordinating hospitality, preparing conference materials and ensuring smooth event operations, these teams worked consistently behind the scenes to bring the conference together. Their contribution reflects the value of student leadership, collaboration, responsibility and commitment.
To every student who participated, presented, competed, organized, volunteered or supported the conference, we extend our heartfelt appreciation. The achievements recognized at NIHC’26 are a reflection of the effort, preparation and perseverance invested throughout the process.

🤝 Strengthening Academic & Research Collaboration | NSHS–THRIVE
The NUST School of Health Sciences (NSHS) has signed a Document of Understanding (DOU) with the THRIVE for Resilience Foundation on 15 September 2026, to foster academic and research cooperation and create meaningful opportunities for BS Human Nutrition & Dietetics (BS HND) students.
The DOU was signed by Prof. Dr. Rizwan Ashraf, Principal, NSHS, and Dr. Shahid Fazal, CEO, THRIVE for Resilience Foundation.
The collaboration will provide opportunities for academic engagement, research collaboration, knowledge exchange, practical exposure, and community-based learning in areas relevant to human nutrition, health, resilience, and community well-being.

As the conference closes, we thank the faculty and staff of NSHS, whose efforts carried it from planning to delivery. Our gratitude to Prof. Dr Rizwan Ashraf, Principal NSHS and Conference Chair, whose vision shaped the conference from its inception. To Organising Secretary, and the organising committee who carried the planning over many months. To the Scientific Committee for assembling a programme of real depth, and for the review of abstracts and e-posters. To our team heads who led registration, logistics, hospitality, media and the technical arrangements — much of it unseen, all of it essential. To our administrative and support staff — whose work on correspondence, registration, procurement and finance ran from the first planning meeting to the last, and whose contribution is the least visible and the most relied upon. A conference of this scale is not delivered by any one office. It is delivered by a school working as one. We thank each of you.

The 1st NUST International Health Conference (NIHC) 2026 — "Redefining Healthcare in the Digital Age" — concluded on 13 September, marking a significant milestone for the NUST School of Health Sciences (NSHS). Held on 12 and 13 September 2026, the conference drew nearly 1,200 participants: dignitaries, distinguished international speakers, healthcare professionals, researchers, faculty members and students. Prof. Rizwan Taj, President of the PMDC, attended as Chief Guest. Convened under the leadership of Prof. Dr Rizwan Ashraf, Principal of NSHS and Conference Chair, NIHC 2026 provided a platform for scientific exchange, innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration. The programme brought together plenary and state-of-the-art lectures, expert panel discussions, oral presentations, an e-poster exhibition and scientific sessions spanning healthcare innovation, artificial intelligence and digital health, global health security and precision medicine. Alongside scientific sessions, the conference featured a Start-up Challenge bringing medicine, engineering and industry together around practical healthcare innovation. A major highlight of NIHC 2026 was its strong emphasis on translating knowledge and innovation into meaningful healthcare solutions.

STUCON 2026, held on 27 August 2026 at Rashid Latif Medical College, provided an exciting platform for students to showcase their innovative ideas and entrepreneurial potential through the Pitch Perfect Competition.
Representing the Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, NSHS, NUST, Team CraveLab, Syeda Aiman Hamdani, Maryam Rasool, Duaa Malik, Aman Mukhtar, and Aqsa Rauf, participated in the competition under the supervision and mentorship of Ms. Zoha Wahid. The students presented their innovative food product idea and entrepreneurial vision and received certificates of participation.
From developing innovative food products to stepping onto competitive platforms and exploring incubation opportunities, CraveLab continues to turn ideas into action and inspire the spirit of student entrepreneurship. 🌟
