Department of Environmental Science, IIU Islamabad, Pakistan Our aim is to develop human resource capable of generating, disseminating and extending knowledge for sustainable development.

The Department of Environmental Science was established in 2007 with the objective of imparting education on decision support science for sustainability of global system by recognizing environmental issues due to changes at local, regional and global levels and responding to such changes in economically feasible, socially acceptable and ecologically viable manners. Currently, the department offers BS, MS and PhD programs in Environmental Science. The curriculum for these programs focuses on all important aspects of natural, social and economic environment, covering contemporary problems of nature conservation, environmental quality, management and governance. Although,16 years undergraduate level M.Sc degree programs are being offered by some institutions with a multi-disciplinary approach of Environmental Science”s” but not as an interdisciplinary science as per HEC approved curriculum and. Most of the courses in such programs are pollution-oriented instead of solution-oriented in their approach and are taught as isolated course from various disciplines of natural sciences. From Fall 2015 semester the department has been launched a two years M.Sc program in Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Management.
