The National Center of GIS & Space Applications (NCGSA) is pleased to highlight the launch of the Pakistan Forest Trees Carbon Calculator; a powerful, user-friendly tool developed through our Forest Resource Assessment Section, G-SAB Lab by Dr. Sami Ullah (Dr.rer.nat.), Associate Professor of Digital Forestry & Chairman, Department of Forestry and Wildlife Management, The University of Haripur, and Co-Principal Investigator at NCGSA’s Forest Resource Assessment Section.
This interactive calculator uses tree species-specific allometric equations tailored for Pakistan’s forests. It helps users quickly estimate:
âś… Biomass (kg)
âś… Carbon Stock
âś… Carbon Credits (now also in tons!)
Designed to support accurate carbon accounting, climate action, REDD+ initiatives, and sustainable forest management — powered by cutting-edge GIS & Space Applications.

When women are given the opportunity to lead, create, and innovate, the entire world benefits. Happy International Women's Day!
On International Women’s Day, the film Jahan Aur Bhi Hain - Beyond the Blue , a production of National Center of GIS and Space Applications in collaboration with Beaconhouse National University, BNU and LockDown Productions, highlights women’s empowerment through Dr. Zainab, portrayed by Amna Ilyas. A brilliant climate scientist, she defies traditional norms to pursue science and uses satellite imagery and geospatial data to protect vulnerable communities from environmental disaster. When systems fail to act, she courageously takes a stand returning to her village as a force of hope and change. Her journey reminds us that empowering women in science and leadership strengthens entire communities.
