Today, we honor the strength, skill, and unwavering commitment of midwives in Pakistan and around the world. 🌍🤍
On the International Day of the Midwife, the Forum for Women Development and Research (FWDR), as part of the White Ribbon Alliance Pakistan, proudly recognizes the indispensable role midwives play in protecting the health, dignity, and rights of women and newborns particularly in underserved and crisis-affected communities.
Midwives are far more than healthcare providers. They are trusted advocates, compassionate counselors, and critical lifelines for women during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. Their presence can mean the difference between life and death.
Yet, despite their impact, midwives remain under-recognized and under-resourced.
A meaningful commitment to midwifery is a commitment to safer births, healthier families, stronger health systems, and a more just and equitable society. It is time to move beyond acknowledgment and invest decisively in their training, protection, and empowerment.
We stand in firm solidarity with midwives everywhere and call on governments, institutions, and partners to ensure they receive the recognition, respect, and resources they rightfully deserve.
