On 20th October, the English Literary Society held Ode on the Go, an event that celebrated the art of storytelling, poetry, and creative expression. The society had the honor of welcoming Zain Alizai as the chief guest — a Pakistani poet, writer, and spoken-word artist, as well as the founder of The Poem Foundry. A LUMS graduate and a two-time National Youth Poet Laureate finalist, Alizai has been published across South Asia and mentored by José Olivarez.
Throughout the event, he engaged with attendees through conversations, reflections, and spontaneous compositions on his typewriter, transforming lived moments into literature. The interactive setting invited participants to share stories and thoughts that were beautifully translated into poetic form before their eyes.
The event was further enriched by the support of Roastie, the beverage partner, serving their signature brews; Petite Pancake Co., the refreshment partner, offering delightful pancakes; and Crumble n’ Kitchen, providing an array of home-baked goods. We thank Sydrah Moeen for bringing them on board.
All in all, Ode on the Go proved to be a distinctive and captivating initiative, one that brought literature to life through dialogue, creativity, and shared experience.
The event was organised by Dr Maria Farooq Maan (incharge AUELS) and Sydra Moeen (President AUELS) . The event was attended by Dr Farzana Masroor (HoD) , Ms.Mehwish Haider, Mr.Sareer and other faculty members as well.
