Planning Minister Prof. Ahsan Iqbal announces the establishment of the Dr. A.Q. Khan Institute of Material Sciences at Quaid e Azam University Islamabad, during his address at the International Symposium on Advanced Materials at the Centre for Physics.

The Institute will serve as a centre of excellence to strengthen academia–industry linkages, train scientists and engineers, and foster global partnerships in research and commercialization.

Being established in collaboration with top global universities, formal partnerships will be announced on 6th November.

Dedicated to the legendary Dr. A.Q. Khan, this initiative carries forward his vision;
“The true defence of a nation lies not in its weapons, but in the strength of its scientists and engineers.”

Opportunity for freelance work as a Venue Freelance Contractor

The British Council is the United Kingdom’s international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations. We support peace and prosperity by building connections, trust and understanding between people of the UK and other countries.

Suitable candidates should have the following experience, qualifications, competencies, and documents (the shortlisted candidates will be asked to bring the documents at the time of the interview):

Ability to plan time methodically and carry out instructions carefully.
Ability to work well within a team.
Attend all briefing and training sessions as requested by the British Council
Experience of working with children and young people
Intermediate use of technology, including the internet and email.
Own bank account (active).
Education –14 Years of Education/ Transcript in case 16 years of education is not complete.
Copy of your CNIC – front & back.
Police Verification/Police Character Certificate – from local Police Station. (Very important) Note: We do not provide any letter for the issuance of a Character Certificate

Pakistan team won a Bronze medal in 55th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO), held in France Jul 17 – Jul 25, 2025. Mr. Daniyal Shahzad Hamid, The Science School, T Chowk, GT Road, Rawat, Islamabad won a Bronze medal and Mr. Muhammad Bilal, Sundar STEM School, Lahore won an Honorable Mention. Miss. Eiman Fatima, Fazaia Inter College, PAF base Nur Khan, Rawalpindi was awarded Thales Solidarity IPhO award (5000 Euros contribution towards education and one year mentorship), aimed at promoting science and technology to all communities. Other participants included Mr. Ali Hamdaan Alvi, F. G. Sir Syed College, Mall Road, Rawalpindi and Mr. Misbah Ul Hassan, KRL Model College for Boys, Kahuta. The Pakistan team participated in the Olympiad under the sponsorship of STEM Careers program, which is a joint venture of Higher Education Commission (HEC) & Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Science (PIEAS). Prof. Dr. Shahid Qamar, PIEAS, Islamabad and Dr. Muhammad Irfan, PIEAS, Islamabad trained and led the team in IPhO 2025.
