We are extremely proud to share that three of our bachelor students have been awarded fully funded scholarships to study abroad. This is a reflection of their hard work, teachers' guidance and exposure to research activities at the Department of Physics, QAU. They are an inspiration to young physicists and tomorrow's researchers. We congratulate them wholeheartedly and wish them best of luck for their future.

An inspiring moment for the next generation of scientists.
We are proud to share that Pakistan team won 3 Bronze medals in 56th Physics International Olympiad (IPhO), held in Colombia from July 4 - 12, 2026. Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Govt City boys school, DG Khan, Ali Hamdan Alvi, FG Sir Syed College and Daniyal Shahzad Hamid, The Science School, Rawat, Islamabad, won bronze medals. Mr. Hazza Mahmood, Atichison College Lahore and Mr. Abdullah Ejaz, Siddeeq Public School Rawalpindi received Honorable Mentions. The selection and training for the IPhO is carried out by PIEAS. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Irfan, PIEAS, Islamabad and Dr. Muhammad Waseem, PIEAS, Islamabad led the team in IPhO 2026.

Pakistan national teams have been participating in the International Science Olympiads in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics under the sponsorship of STEM Careers Programme, a joint initiative of the HEC Pakistan and PIEAS. Since the program's inception, over 400 students have participated in the ISOs, winning 144 medals. With more than 260 training camps, 5000 students have received training through this program.

This notification shows the level of competence of the people on driving seat in university.
Illegitimate!
You have to solve the problems and not increase them, no matter what the circumstances are, because this is the basic oath that you are sitting to fulfill.
If you can't, please leave the administrative seats and go home.
What kind of battle arena have you turned the university into?
We are not discussing the merits of the problems and we don't want to. Our aim is to condemn this decision because with this you have not eliminated the problems, nor have you won, but have increased them.

"This in effect is, the faith of all physicists; the deeper we seek, the more is our wonder excited, the more is the dazzlement for our gaze."

As a 14-year-old boy, science genius Abdus Salam gained the highest marks ever recorded for the Matriculation Examination at the University of the Punjab in the early 1940s. When he cycled home from Lahore the whole town welcomed him.

In 1949, Salam was awarded a scholarship to study a double bachelor's degree in mathematics and physics at the University of Cambridge. In 1950 he received the Smith’s Prize from the University of Cambridge for the most outstanding pre-doctoral contribution to physics.

During his career in science, Salam presented many scientific breakthroughs and innovative theories such as the Pati–Salam model, the Grand Unified Theory and research on supersymmetry.

In 1979, he shared the Nobel Prize in Physics with Sheldon Glashow and Steven Weinberg. They made significant contributions to the electroweak unification theory.

Advance Congratulations to Jamil Sb! Mostly acting chairman secures the position.
Indeed he worked very hard to secure the(acting) position.
There should be no clashes among professors on such appointments as it's not good for department future. Actually here in Pakistan lobbying plays major role in appointments in any field.
