The Earth Explorers – Society of Economic Geologists (EESEG) is pleased to announce that Mr. Malik Imran, a student of the University of Hazara, has been awarded the MinEx Research Grant 2026–27 under the Mineral Exploration Research Project, jointly supported by CGC-HEE and EEPL.
The project will be conducted under the supervision of Syed Nohman Gilani, Lead Geologist and GM Exploration, HEE-CGC.
The award recognizes Mr. Imran’s academic merit and research potential in the field of mineral exploration. It also reflects the continued commitment of industry and academic institutions to fostering research, innovation, and professional development within the geosciences sector.
EESEG acknowledges this important milestone and looks forward to the successful implementation of the research project and its contribution to advancing mineral exploration knowledge and practice.

السلام علیکم!
پاکستان قدرتی وسائل سے مالا مال ملک ہے۔ تانبہ، سونا، لوہا، کرومائٹ، سیسہ، زنک، قیمتی پتھر اور دیگر معدنیات کے بے شمار ذخائر ملک کے مختلف علاقوں میں موجود ہیں۔ لیکن ان وسائل کا ایک بڑا حصہ آج بھی دریافت، تحقیق اور ترقی کا منتظر ہے۔
پاکستان میں مائننگ کے شعبے کو درپیش سب سے بڑا چیلنج قابلِ اعتماد جیولوجیکل ڈیٹا، جدید ایکسپلوریشن اور تکنیکی مہارت کی کمی ہے۔ بہت سے مائننگ لیز ہولڈرز اور معدنی حقوق کے مالکان کے پاس معدنی زمین تو موجود ہوتی ہے، لیکن انہیں اپنے ذخائر کی اصل مقدار، معیار اور معاشی اہمیت کا مکمل علم نہیں ہوتا۔
صرف سطح پر معدنیات کی موجودگی کسی ذخیرے کی تجارتی کامیابی کی ضمانت نہیں ہوتی۔ قومی اور بین الاقوامی سرمایہ کار کسی بھی منصوبے میں سرمایہ کاری سے پہلے مستند جیولوجیکل اور ایکسپلوریشن ڈیٹا کا جائزہ لیتے ہیں۔ یہی ڈیٹا انہیں منصوبے کے خطرات، مواقع اور ممکنہ منافع کا درست اندازہ فراہم کرتا ہے۔
اسی لیے جدید معدنی تلاش میں Geological Mapping، GIS & Remote Sensing، Geochemical Surveys، Geophysical Surveys، Systematic Sampling، Trenching اور Core Drilling جیسے مراحل بنیادی اہمیت رکھتے ہیں۔ ان سائنسی طریقوں کے ذریعے معدنی ذخائر کی حدود، گہرائی، گریڈ، مقدار اور معاشی امکانات کا درست تعین کیا جاتا ہے۔
پاکستان کے دور دراز اور دشوار گزار علاقوں میں آج بھی بے شمار معدنی امکانات موجود ہیں جن کی مکمل جانچ ابھی باقی ہے۔ اگر ان علاقوں میں جدید ایکسپلوریشن، تکنیکی مطالعات اور سائنسی سرویز کو فروغ دیا جائے تو نہ صرف نئے معدنی ذخائر دریافت کیے جا سکتے ہیں بلکہ ملکی معیشت، برآمدات، روزگار اور صنعتی ترقی میں بھی نمایاں اضافہ ممکن ہے۔

Executive Briefing to International Delegation
A high-level executive briefing was presented to an international delegation comprising representatives from Alaska, United States, and the Netherlands, highlighting the latest exploration results, mining potential, and strategic investment opportunities across the Company's ongoing projects.
The presentation was delivered on behalf of HEE-CGC in the presence of the Company's Chairman and CEO, Mr. Sadiq Sultan, and Patron-in-Chief, Mr. Muhammad Hanif Gohar. The session convened lby Syed Nohman Gillani, Lead Geologist and General Manager Exploration HEE-CGC, who provided a detailed overview of the projects' technical and commercial prospects.
Key Highlights

The briefing emphasized the substantial resource potential of the projects, the strength of the Company's operational strategy, and the attractiveness of the investment landscape. It was a great honor to join the celebrations marking the 250th Anniversary of United States Independence, a historic milestone reflecting two and a half centuries of freedom, democracy, innovation, and enduring global partnerships. The occasion was further distinguished by the presence of senior U.S. officials, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, and prominent political figures from all across the pakistan, symbolizing the strong and evolving relationship between the United States and Pakistan. Completing a 1:10,000-scale geological map is never just about producing a final map sheet or digital dataset. It is the culmination of years of observation, interpretation, verification, and countless kilometers walked across rugged terrain.
Over the last three years, our work combined detailed geological and structural mapping, systematic geochemical sampling, and prospect generation across a challenging mountainous terrain. The journey began the traditional way with topographic sheets, compass, field notebook, and carefully planned traverses.
Field mapping required multiple traverse strategies, including:
-Valley-to-ridge traverses
-Ridge traverses
-Contour traverses
-Spur traverses
-Stream and drainage traverses
-Cross-structural traverses
-Along-strike traverses
-Across-strike traverses
Each traverse added another piece to the geological puzzle.
The objective was straightforward in concept but demanding in practice:
✔ Identify and verify lithological contacts
✔ Map faults, shear zones, and structural discontinuities
✔ Record folds and deformation patterns
✔ Delineate alteration zones
✔ Characterize mineralization styles and controls
✔ Collect systematic geochemical samples
✔ Build lithological, structural, mineralization, alteration, and contact maps
Every outcrop observation, structural measurement, and sample location was first captured on topographic sheets before being progressively integrated into modern digital mapping platforms and GIS databases.
Fieldwork rarely ends at the outcrop. Geological interpretations often continue on the hillside overlooking mapped ground, around camp discussions, during lunch breaks, and while revisiting observations from previous traverses. The geological map evolves continuously as new data challenge earlier interpretations.
To many, the final geological map appears as a single page, a report figure, or a digital dataset. For the field geologist, however, it represents something much deeper a reconstruction of geological history built from thousands of individual observations. It is the process of transforming scattered field evidence into a coherent geological story.
Now, after completing the regional framework and delivering the 1:10,000 geological map, the focus shifts to the next phase:
Refining targets. Tightening geological models. Integrating geochemistry, structure, and alteration patterns. Prioritizing prospects for follow-up exploration and drilling.
The map may be complete, but the geological story is still unfolding.
