Chief Minister of Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi on Sunday announced punishment for marriage registrars who do not use the form mentioning the oath of faith on the finality of Prophethood (PBUH) for nikkah.
The marriage registrar who does not comply will be punished with one month of imprisonment and a fine.
CM Punjab mentioned instructions being given to the marriage registrar for the provision of new forms with affidavit of the oath.
“Strict action will be taken against those who do not provide new forms,” the CM said, emphasising on the consequences of not abiding by the orders.
CM Elahi’s statement came during his meeting with the Secretary-General of Wafaqul Madaris Al Arabia Maulana Muhammad Hanif Jalandhari.
Maulana Jalandhari appreciated the CM’s initiatives for including the aforementioned clause in the marriage certificate and lauded the Punjab government for taking steps to promote religious tolerance and harmony.

Chairman ASEAN Committee Islamabad (ACI) Ambassador Nguyen Tien Phong said on Sunday that data from Pakistan showed that the country’s trade with ASEAN had reached approximately $11 billion in the fiscal year 2022.
The Vietnamese ambassador noted that regional comprehensive economic partnership (RCEP) carried huge economic potential, adding that the paradigm shift from geo-politics to geo-economics in Pakistan would enable the country’s economy to reach milestones.
The regional integration of ASEAN countries is not only essential for the economic prosperity of the ASEAN region but also for global economic linkages and connectivity, Phong pointed out while speaking to APP here.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Housing Dr Amjad Ali said that work is ongoing on record development projects of health, education, clean water and roads across the province.
Inaugurating a road project in Swat, he said effective measures are being taken to solve public problems and provide basic facilities at their doorsteps.

The Pakistan Army has announced the transfer and posting of three three-star generals including Lt General Faiz Hameed, who has been appointed Commander Bahawalpur Crop, according to Inter-Services Public Relations, the media wing of the Pakistan military.
Lieutenant General Sardar Hassan Azhar Hayat has been posted as Commander Peshawar Corps to replace Faiz Hameed, it said.
Lieutenant General Khalid Zia has been posted as Military Secretary Pakistan Army.
Lt Gen Faiz Hameed headed the country’s premier intelligence agency the Inter-Sevices Intelligence (ISI) between June 2019 and November 2021, before he was made Commander Peshawar Corp.
In Monday’s announcement, the military has effectively rotated the three senior officers.
Lieutenant General Khalid Zia was serving as Commander Bahawalpur Corp, also known as # # Crop, and he has replaced Lt General Hassan Azhar Hayat Military Secretary Pakistan Army.
Lt General Hassan Azhar Hayat was serving as Military Secretary (MS) at GHQ, Rawalpindi since November 2020 when he was promoted to the three-star rank along with Asif Ghafoor and others.
Lt-Gen Asif Ghafoor was appointed Commander Quetta Crop last week.
