Federal Judicial Academy Islamabad Official
Federal Judicial Academy was established under a Government Resolution in September, 1988.
It functioned at different locations in Islamabad till the completion of its present campus in 1994 at H-8/4, Islamabad. A legal cover to the organization and functioning of the Academy was provided with the enforcement of Federal Judicial Academy Act, 1997.

Panel Discussion: Confronting Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV)
One of the highlights of the National Women Lawyers Conference was an engaging and insightful panel discussion that brought together distinguished experts from the fields of law, media, policymaking, and digital rights to explore the growing prevalence and impact of Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV). The discussion provided a valuable platform for examining emerging challenges, sharing experiences, and identifying practical strategies to strengthen legal and institutional responses to online gender-based harms.
Moderated by Ms. Shahzada Ahmad, Programme Manager, Rule of Law Programme, UNDP Pakistan, the panel featured:
- Ms. Huma Akhtar Chughtai, Member National Assembly
- Ms. Munizae Jehangir, Senior Journalist
- Mr. Usama Khilji, Director, Bolo Bhi
- Ms. Alia Zareen, Advocate
The panelists shared diverse perspectives on the legal, policy, and digital dimensions of online gender-based harms, highlighting the urgent need for stronger institutional responses, enhanced digital literacy, survivor-centred approaches, and greater collaboration among justice sector stakeholders.
The discussion underscored that as technology continues to evolve, justice systems must adapt to ensure that women and girls can safely participate in digital spaces and access effective remedies when violations occur.
Organized by the Federal Judicial Academy in collaboration with UNDP Pakistan under the EU-funded Deliver Justice Project, the conference reaffirmed a collective commitment to advancing gender-responsive justice and addressing emerging digital challenges.

Professional Exchange Programme: Inspiring Visit to the Supreme Court of Pakistan:
Under the Professional Exchange Programme for Civil Judges/A'ala Illaqa Qazis from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, participants had the unique privilege of visiting the Supreme Court of Pakistan and engaging in an interactive session with the Hon'ble Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mr. Justice Yahya Afridi.
The session was also attended by the Director General Federal Judicial Academy Mr. Hayat Ali Shah, Director General (Reforms) Supreme Court of Pakistan Mr. Fakhar Zaman; Director Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy/Course Coordinator Mr. Jamal Shah and Directors Instructions Federal Judicial Academy, Mr. Mahmood Azam and Ms. Nadia Syed.
During the interactive session, the Hon'ble Chief Justice highlighted the evolving demands of judicial responsibilities and underscored the importance of continuous professional development for judicial officers. His Lordship observed that training programmes conducted by judicial academies play a vital role in enhancing judicial competence, promoting consistency in decision making, and strengthening public confidence in the justice system.
This landmark visit not only enriched the participants' understanding of high-level judicial processes but also strengthened collaboration and knowledge-sharing across Pakistan's judiciary.

National Women Lawyers Conference Highlights Urgent Need to Address Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence
The Federal Judicial Academy (FJA), in collaboration with UNDP Pakistan under the EU-funded Deliver Justice Project, organized the National Women Lawyers Conference in Islamabad, bringing together women legal professionals from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Islamabad. The conference focused on emerging challenges posed by Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV) and the need for strengthened institutional responses.
Addressing the conference as Chief Guest, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, highlighted the significant progress of women in the legal profession while emphasizing that enhanced investigative capacity is essential to effectively address emerging digital forms of gender-based violence.
Mr. Hayat Ali Shah, Director General, Federal Judicial Academy, along with Dr. Sébastien Lorion, Team Leader Governance and Human Capital Development, Delegation of the European Union to Pakistan; Ms. Noureen Bano Lehri, Chairperson, National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW); and Ms. Van Nguyen, Deputy Resident Representative, UNDP Pakistan, underscored the importance of strengthening survivor-centred and gender-responsive justice systems. They emphasized the need to invest in women’s leadership in the legal profession, and enhance institutional readiness to respond to TFGBV.
A panel discussion on confronting TFGBV was moderated by Ms. Shahzada Ahmad, Programme Manager, Rule of Law Programme, UNDP Pakistan, featuring Ms. Munizae Jehangir, Senior Journalist; Ms. Huma Akhtar Chughtai, Member National Assembly; Mr. Usama Khilji, Director, Bolo Bhi; and Advocate Alia Zareen, who shared perspectives on legal, policy, and digital dimensions of online gender-based harms.
The conference concluded with key recommendations aimed at strengthening institutional responses to technology-facilitated harms, improving access to justice for survivors, and building resilient justice systems capable of addressing evolving digital challenges.

The Federal Judicial Academy, in collaboration with UNDP Pakistan, is organizing the National Women Lawyers Conference under the European Union (EU)-funded “Deliver Justice Project.” The conference aims to provide a platform for women lawyers from across Pakistan to engage in meaningful dialogue, share experiences, and strengthen professional networks.
Building on last year’s theme of Women Practicing Law in the Age of AI, the conference will focus on emerging challenges confronting women in the legal profession, particularly Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV) in Pakistan, and strategies for navigating the evolving digital landscape.
Participation in the conference is restricted to nominated women lawyers only.

THE CHIEF JUSTICE OF PAKISTAN CHAIRS 60TH MEETING OF THE NATIONAL JUDICIAL (POLICY MAKING) COMMITTEE
Hon’ble the Chief Justice of Pakistan chaired the 60th meeting of the National Judicial (Policy Making) Committee (NJPMC), today at the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The meeting was attended by Hon’ble the Chief Justice, Lahore High Court, Hon’ble the Chief Justice, Peshawar High Court, Hon’ble the Chief Justice, High Court of Sindh and Hon’ble Senior Puisne Judge, Islamabad High Court. The Secretary, Ministry of Law and Justice and the Chairman, Higher Education Commission attended the meeting on special invitation.
The Committee deliberated on key policy issues, while reviewing implementation status of the decisions taken in its 59th meeting. The Committee unanimously reiterated its resolve to strengthen institutional capacity, accelerate access to justice, and ensure efficient and effective justice delivery.
