Kidney Stones





Kidney stones are hard, pebble-like deposits of minerals and salts—primarily calcium, oxalate, or uric acid—that form inside the kidneys when urine becomes too concentrated. Ranging from sand-sized to as large as a golf ball, they can cause severe pain in the back, side, or groin as they move through the urinary tract.Key Aspects of Kidney Stones:Causes: The main cause is an imbalance of minerals in the urine, often due to dehydration, diet (too much salt/animal protein), or medical conditions like obesity or diabetes.Symptoms: Intense, sharp pain in the back or lower abdomen, blood in the urine, nausea, and a frequent, burning need to urinate.Types: The most common are calcium oxalate stones.
