Turkey-Saudi Arabia relations
Causes of bad relations:
1 - After the Arab Spring in 2011, Turkey supported the Muslim Brotherhood (a political organization in Egypt which Saudis & UAE consider a threat for themselves, why? search for yourself)
2 - After Saudi group's blockade on Qatar in June 2017, Turkey provided necessary food and military support (in case Saudi group take military action + Turkey still has military base in Qatar)
3 - In 2018, Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi's killing inside Saudi consulate in Turkey - Erdogan blamed persons closest to MBS (main reason for personal animosity)
4- Turkey's recent 'hegemonic' actions to claim leadership of Muslim Ummah, and for that purpose making a separate bloc e.g. Pak + Turkey + Iran + Malaysia
Effects of Turkey-Saudi bad relations
1 - Prolonged Syrian civil war as Saudi group moved to normalize relations with Bashar as-Assad while Turkey backed opposition fighters
2 - Worsened Libya's civil war where Turkey supported (still supports) Tripoli-based govt (Tripoli is capital of Libya), whereas KSA,UAE and Egypt backed rebel Khalifa Haftar's forces
3 - Currently, Pakistan's relations with one is seen by the other side as Zero-sum game e.g. Malaysian summit. Of course, Pakistan wants to have good relations with both of them (KSA is strategic partner and Pakistan enjoys very good brotherly relations Turkey)
So, should KSA and Turkey improve their relations. Yes. It'll be good for them, for region, and of course for Pakistan. Fortunately, both have desired so.
Normalisation between a Saudi-led coalition and Qatar removed the barrier to reconciliation between Ankara and Riyadh.
