Islamabad King Sejong Institute NUML KSIF has more than 200 institutes worldwide to help people learning Korean language and Culture.

Islamabad King Sejong Institute is established on Sep 18, 2012 by the Korean foundation KSIF (King Sejong Institute Foundation). In Pakistan KSIF established its institute IKSI is NUML Islamabad campus. The main purpose of the institute is to help students learnig Korean language by offering different courses e.g. Certificate, Diploma and Advance Diploma etc. After completing course students are able to Read, Write, Speak and Understand Listening in Korean Language.

The Clean & Green Society of the Department of Korean Language & Culture, in collaboration with Islamabad King Sejong Institute, successfully organized a vibrant “Plant a Tree” campaign at the NUML Main Campus. The event witnessed active participation from the Head of Department, Director IKSI, faculty members, and enthusiastic students, all united for a meaningful environmental cause.

The campaign was organized with the objective of promoting environmental awareness and encouraging a sense of collective responsibility towards creating a greener, healthier, and more sustainable future. Participants actively engaged in tree plantation activities with great enthusiasm, demonstrating their commitment to environmental preservation and sustainable practices.

The event also served as an opportunity to highlight the importance of protecting natural resources and combating environmental challenges through small yet impactful actions. Students and faculty members worked together in a spirit of teamwork and community service, making the campaign both educational and inspiring.

In line with the core values of NUML, the initiative beautifully reflected the department’s dedication to social responsibility, inclusivity, sustainability, and community engagement. Through this campaign, participants were encouraged to recognize their role in preserving nature and contributing positively towards a cleaner and greener environment for future generations.

K-WAVE FESTA 2026 – A Resounding Success for NUML and IKSI
On Saturday, May 2, 2026, NUML's Islamabad King Sejong Institute (IKSI) and the Department of Korean Language and Culture proudly participated in the vibrant 2026 K-WAVE FESTA, hosted/organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Pakistan at the prestigious Serena Hotel, Islamabad.
Amidst a dynamic and colorful array of stalls from various organizations, NUML/IKSI booth stood out as a hub of cultural and academic engagement. The team delivered an impressive promotional campaign, providing visitors with comprehensive details about their diverse academic programs, structured syllabi, and unique learning pathways. Attendees were also given thorough information on all language programs offered by NUML, including its popular foreign language courses and programs.
A overwhelming number of enthusiastic visitors flocked to the booth, displaying genuine curiosity and keen interest in Korean language and culture. The IKSI team specifically highlighted its structured Korean language courses, along with valuable scholarship opportunities and academic pathways at NUML. To bring Korean culture to life, the booth featured lively interactive activities, including trying on exquisite traditional Korean attire (Hanbok), playing engaging traditional games like *Tuho* (arrow throwing), and hosting a fun, competitive Korean-language quiz session. Many participants took part with great zeal and walked away with fantastic prizes.
Throughout the festival, visitors showed unwavering enthusiasm and a deep admiration for Korean traditions. As per vision of the Rector NUML, Director IKSI & Head of the Korean Department, alongside the dedicated faculty, effectively utilized this invaluable platform to promote Korean language and culture and highlighted NUML’s academic excellence.
IKSI & Department of Korean Language and Culture remain steadfast in their mission to strengthen the warm and enduring friendship between Korea and Pakistan, while continuously expanding transformative educational opportunities for students in both countries.

16th NUML Korean Speech Contest

On April 29, the Department of Korean Language and Culture at National University of Modern Languages held the 16th Korean Speech Contest.

A total of 14 enrolled students participated in the competition, delivering presentations on Korean-related topics of their own choice. All participants demonstrated excellent Korean language proficiency, making the selection of winners highly challenging. After careful evaluation, the judges announced the following results:

1st Place: Ms. Laraib Fatima
Topic: “Why do humans learn languages?”

2nd Place: Ms. Zarish Suleman
Topic: “If words connect, hearts connect too”

3rd Place: Ms. Aniqa Mehar
Topic: “The moment I felt I was the coolest”

Encouragement Awards:
Ms. Mlaika Sehar
Topic: “Fall seven times, stand up eight”

Ms. Khadeeja
Topic: “My Journey to My Dream Job”

In addition to the speeches, students enriched the event by showcasing various cultural performances. They wore traditional Korean attire, Hanbok, and performed both the Korean and Pakistani national anthems. The program also featured a fan dance and a K-pop performance of “Paradise of Rumors” by AKMU.

These activities beautifully reflected the students’ enthusiasm and appreciation for Korean culture, making the event both vibrant and memorable.
