The Clean & Green Society of the Department of Korean Language & Culture organized a vibrant โPlant a Treeโ campaign at the NUML Main Campus. The event was attended by the Head of Department,Director of IKSI, faculty members, and enthusiastic students.
The initiative aimed to foster environmental awareness and inspire collective responsibility towards a greener, healthier future. Participants actively planted trees with great passion and commitment to environmental sustainability.
In line with the core values of NUML, the event beautifully reflected the departmentโs dedication to social responsibility, inclusivity, sustainability, and community engagement while encouraging everyone to preserve nature for future generations.

K-WAVE FESTA 2026 โ A Resounding Success for NUML and IKSI**
On Saturday, May 2, 2026, NUML's Islamabad King Sejong Institute (IKSI) and the Department of Korean Language and Culture proudly participated in the vibrant 2026 K-WAVE FESTA, hosted/organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Pakistan at the prestigious Serena Hotel, Islamabad.
Amidst a dynamic and colorful array of stalls from various organizations, NUML/IKSI booth stood out as a hub of cultural and academic engagement. The team delivered an impressive promotional campaign, providing visitors with comprehensive details about their diverse academic programs, structured syllabi, and unique learning pathways. Attendees were also given thorough information on all language programs offered by NUML, including its popular foreign language courses and programs.
A overwhelming number of enthusiastic visitors flocked to the booth, displaying genuine curiosity and keen interest in Korean language and culture. The IKSI team specifically highlighted its structured Korean language courses, along with valuable scholarship opportunities and academic pathways at NUML. To bring Korean culture to life, the booth featured lively interactive activities, including trying on exquisite traditional Korean attire (Hanbok), playing engaging traditional games like *Tuho* (arrow throwing), and hosting a fun, competitive Korean-language quiz session. Many participants took part with great zeal and walked away with fantastic prizes.
Throughout the festival, visitors showed unwavering enthusiasm and a deep admiration for Korean traditions. As per vision of the Rector NUML, Director IKSI & Head of the Korean Department, alongside the dedicated faculty, effectively utilized this invaluable platform to promote Korean language and culture and highlighted NUMLโs academic excellence.
IKSI & Department of Korean Language and Culture remain steadfast in their mission to strengthen the warm and enduring friendship between Korea and Pakistan, while continuously expanding transformative educational opportunities for students in both countries.

On April 29, the Department of Korean Language and Culture, in collaboration with the Islamabad King Sejong Institute at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML), Pakistan, successfully organized the 16th Korean Language Speech Contest. ๐ต๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ท
A total of 14 talented students participated in the competition, presenting on a variety of topics. Each participant demonstrated outstanding Korean language proficiency, making the contest both engaging and highly competitive.

Islamabad, 13 Feb 2026: A Letter of Interest (LoI) was signed between the National University of Modern Languages, Department of Korean Language and Culture, and Korea University to promote academic exchange, research collaboration, and cultural cooperation between the two institutions.
In this connection, a three-member delegation from The Korea University, led by Dr. Lee Hyungdae, Director, Institute of Korean Language and Literature, visited NUML and called on the Rector, Maj Gen Shahid Mahmood Kayani, HI (M) (retd.), at his office.
During the meeting, both sides expressed their strong commitment to strengthening bilateral academic ties. The LoI aims to enhance cooperation in key areas including faculty and staff exchange, student exchange, academic material sharing, and joint programs such as collaborative teaching, research, conferences, and cultural activities.
Later, the visiting delegation participated in a vibrant event showcasing Korean culture, organized by the Department of Korean Language and Culture at Iqbal Hall. Students presented colorful performances reflecting various aspects of Korean language and culture, which were highly appreciated by the guests.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Lee Hyungdae commended NUML for its active role in promoting the Korean language and culture in Pakistan. He announced that students of NUMLโs Department of Korean Language and Culture who wish to pursue studies at Korea University would be granted a waiver of tuition fees, terming it a significant step toward encouraging academic mobility and international exposure.
The visit and signing of the LoI mark an important milestone in strengthening educational and cultural relations between Pakistan and the Republic of Korea, reaffirming NUMLโs commitment to international collaboration and academic excellence.
