HEC Approves Overhaul of LLB Curriculum in Key Committee Meeting

HEC has given in-principle approval for a newly designed four-year LLB programme. The updated curriculum, developed in line with international best practices and tailored to meet Pakistan’s legal education needs, will now move forward for formal statutory approvals ahead of implementation.

This outcome followed a comprehensive three-day meeting of the National Curriculum Review Committee for Law, convened by HEC. The sessions were led by Director General Curriculum HEC Dr. Amjad Hussain and included participation from Member Pakistan Bar Council Mr. Hassan Raza Pasha, Director of the Directorate of Legal Education Barrister Usama Malik, and Dean of Quaid-i-Azam University School of Law Dr. Aziz u Rehman. HEC Deputy Director (Curriculum) Mr. Hidayatullah Kasi served as Secretary and facilitated the discussions.

Congratulations to the 2nd team of IOL for qualifying among the top 12 teams in the Hamdard University National Moot Court Competition! Your hard work and dedication have paid off. ایل ایل بی پروگرام کا دورانیہ پانچ سال سے کم کر کے چار سال کرنے کے لیے ایک اجلاس ہوا۔ ایگزیکٹیو ڈائریکٹر ایچ ای سی ڈاکٹر ضیاء القیوم، ممبر پی بی سی جناب حسن رضا پاشا اور ڈائریکٹر ڈائریکٹوریٹ آف لیگل ایجوکیشن (ڈی ایل ای) بیرسٹر اسامہ ملک کی زیر صدارت اجلاس میں پاکستان بھر سے 44 یونیورسٹیوں کے نمائندوں نے شرکت کی۔ بحث میں ایل ایل بی کے نصاب کو عالمی معیارات پر پورا اترنے، مطابقت کو یقینی بنانے اور مسابقت بڑھانے پر توجہ مرکوز کی گئی۔ بیرسٹر اسامہ ملک اور جناب حسن رضا پاشا نے پروگرام کو جدید تقاضوں اور بین الاقوامی معیارات کے مطابق بنانے کی ضرورت پر زور دیا۔ بیرسٹر اسامہ ملک نے ایل ایل بی پروگرام کی اسکیم کو جدید خطوط کے مطابق بنانے کی اہمیت پر روشنی ڈالی۔ کلیدی خدشات میں پروگرام کا دورانیہ اور ڈھانچہ شامل تھا، خاص طور پر برطانیہ میں مقیم یونیورسٹیوں کی طرف سے پیش کردہ مختصر بین الاقوامی قانون کے پروگراموں کے مقابلے۔ بحث کے دیگر موضوعات میں سمسٹر سسٹم کا نفاذ، فیکلٹی ٹریننگ، لائسنسنگ میکانزم، اور ایل ایل بی پروگرام کے لیے کوالٹی کنٹرول شامل تھے۔

We are elated to share that the exceptional team from the Institute of Law, Meetharam Campus UOS, has qualified for the prestigious Nuremberg Moot Court Competition, 2024! This remarkable team, consisting of Fawad Ali, Hena Parmar, Iqra Khowaja, and Faraz Habib, under the expert guidance of Coach Mr. Arun Barkat, has reached an incredible milestone. Also congratulations to Sir Danish Bashir Mnagi, Sir Sardar Shah Lakiaree, Sir Ali Raza Laghari, Madam Rehana Anjum, Madam Shabana Kouser Jatoi.

They are the ONLY TEAM from Pakistan to advance to the Oral Rounds of the competition, organized by the International Nuremberg Principles Academy and the International Criminal Law Research Unit at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg. This esteemed event will be held in Germany this July.

We are immensely proud of their achievements and wish them all the success in the upcoming Oral Rounds. ! 🌟
