In Brazil, a carpenter found a simple way to bring books closer to children who had little access to them. Using discarded wooden pallets, he began building small mobile libraries — sturdy, wheeled carts filled with stories, learning materials, and colorful books.
These rolling libraries travel through neighborhoods, stopping in streets and open spaces where children gather. Instead of waiting for access, books arrive right where they are, turning ordinary corners into places of discovery and imagination.
What started as a creative reuse of leftover wood became something much bigger. It opened doors to learning, encouraged reading habits, and created moments of curiosity in places where resources were limited — showing how one idea, built by hand, can quietly expand opportunities for many.

In Kenya, a shop owner noticed a child studying under a dim streetlight each evening, trying to learn despite limited access to electricity at home. Instead of overlooking the situation, he extended a power line from his shop to the outside, creating a small, well-lit space where the boy could study safely.
With proper lighting, the child now has a consistent place to focus, read, and complete schoolwork without straining his eyes. The simple setup has transformed his routine, turning a difficult situation into one filled with opportunity and comfort. What was once a struggle has become a reliable part of his daily life.
This act reflects how awareness can lead to meaningful change. The shop owner didn’t need complex solutions—just the willingness to help. By sharing a small resource, he opened the door to education and possibility, proving that even the simplest gesture can light the path toward a brighter future.

Aye, 17, had to leave her home in Syria and start over in Türkiye. Even after being displaced, she held on to her dream of becoming a hairdresser.
But life wasn’t easy. After facing bullying and harassment on her way to school, she dropped out and stayed home for two years.
“It made me feel helpless. I thought my dreams were over.”
Through a UNICEF-supported programme, Aye rejoined vocational training and rediscovered her passion. She now excels in hairdressing and uses her skills to empower others.
“One day, I’ll open a beauty salon where every woman leaves feeling strong and beautiful,” she says. “Or maybe I’ll study law and defend women like my mother — she’s my hero.”
With the right support, girls like Aye are not just getting their education back on track. They are shaping their own futures and showing what is possible when every girl has the chance to learn, lead and be heard.
