The 𝐏𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 & 𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥 raised serious concerns about 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐬 performing unauthorized clinical roles such as 𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬, 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬. Reports of such practices, along with rising cases of infections like HIV and hepatitis, highlight risks to public health.
The council emphasized that only 𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐌&𝐃𝐂 are legally allowed to carry out clinical duties under the PM&DC Act 2022. It clarified that the Allied Health Professionals Council is limited to regulating supportive roles and does not have authority to permit independent clinical practice.
PM&DC urged strict enforcement of laws and requested authorities to direct allied professionals to stay within their defined scope to ensure patient safety and prevent quackery.
