REPORT ON 79th INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS(2026) CULTURAL REPRESENTATION, CREATIVE ACTIVITIES, SPEECHES, NATIONAL SONG COMPETITION AND FLAG HOISTING

Introduction
Government College for Information Technology (GCIT), Hala, District Matiari, organized a comprehensive programme to commemorate the spirit of independence, patriotism, national unity, cultural diversity, and love for Pakistan under the supervision of the worthy Principal, Prof. Dr. Afsheen Noman Saddar.
The whole program led as a stage Organizer by Prof. Amanullah Saddar with discipline and affection with country and college.
The programme featured a variety of educational, cultural, artistic, and patriotic activities, including flag hoisting, Qirat, a welcome address, national songs, a documentary on the history of Pakistan, cultural representation, poster painting, calligraphy, speeches in English, Urdu and Sindhi, an essay competition, a quiz competition, and a national song competition. The event provided students with an excellent platform to demonstrate their talents and develop a deeper sense of national responsibility and cultural awareness.
1. Flag Hoisting Ceremony
The programme commenced with the flag-hoisting ceremony. The national flag of Pakistan was hoisted with due respect and solemnity in the presence of the worthy Principal, the honourable guest Qazi Irfan Sahib, faculty members, and students.
The hoisting of the national flag created an atmosphere of patriotism, pride, and national enthusiasm throughout the college. The ceremony reflected the institution’s commitment to promoting respect for national symbols, unity, discipline, and devotion to the country.
The students observed the ceremony with great respect and enthusiasm, expressing their love for Pakistan and their appreciation of the sacrifices made for the independence of the country.
2. Tree Plantation Activity
As part of the programme, the honourable guest, Qazi Irfan Sahib, participated in a tree plantation activity at the college premises. He planted a sapling as a symbolic gesture towards promoting environmental awareness, greenery, and a healthy environment.
The activity conveyed an important message about the responsibility of students and citizens to protect the environment and contribute to a greener and healthier Pakistan. The Principal, faculty members, and students appreciated the initiative and emphasized the importance of tree plantation for environmental sustainability and the well-being of future generations.
3. Recitation of the Holy Quran
Following the flag-hoisting ceremony, the programme continued with the recitation of the Holy Quran (Qirat), which was presented by Saifullah of Class XI. His recitation added solemnity and spiritual significance to the occasion.
4. Welcome Address
After the Qirat, Prof. Sir Zulfiqar Akhund delivered the welcome address. He warmly welcomed the honourable guest, Qazi Irfan Sahib, the Principal, faculty members, and students.
In his address, he highlighted the importance of celebrating national occasions with a sense of responsibility and dignity. He also appreciated the participation of students and encouraged them to contribute positively to the development and prosperity of Pakistan.
5. National Song and Documentary on the History of Pakistan
A national song was played through the multimedia projector, creating an atmosphere of national pride and enthusiasm among the participants.
A documentary on the history of Pakistan was also presented. The documentary provided students with an informative overview of the historical struggle, important developments, and events associated with the creation and development of Pakistan. It helped the students understand the historical significance of independence and appreciate the sacrifices made by the leaders and people of the subcontinent.
6. Address by the Honourable Guest
The honourable guest, Qazi Irfan Sahib, addressed the gathering and shared valuable thoughts on the significance of independence. He emphasized the importance of patriotism, unity, discipline, education, and responsible citizenship.
He encouraged the students to acquire knowledge, develop strong moral character, respect the values of the country, and play their role in the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
7. Cultural Representation
A significant segment of the programme was devoted to cultural representation by the students. The participants showcased various aspects of Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage through traditional attire, artistic presentations, and cultural expressions.
The activity highlighted the diversity of Pakistani society and demonstrated how different languages, traditions, customs, and regional identities contribute to the country’s cultural richness.
The students represented their respective cultural traditions with confidence, dignity, and enthusiasm. The presentation conveyed the important message that cultural diversity is a source of strength, harmony, and national unity.
8. Poster Painting and Calligraphy Competitions
The programme also included poster painting and calligraphy competitions, in which students demonstrated their creativity and artistic abilities.
The posters reflected themes such as patriotism, national unity, peace, cultural heritage, and civic responsibility. Through their artwork, students expressed important national and social messages in a creative manner.
The calligraphy competition provided students with an opportunity to demonstrate their artistic command of written expression. The participants produced thoughtful and aesthetically appealing pieces, reflecting their dedication and creativity.
These activities encouraged students to develop their artistic skills while strengthening their appreciation of national values and cultural heritage.
9. Speeches in English, Urdu and Sindhi
Another important component of the programme was the speech competition in English, Urdu, and Sindhi. Students delivered speeches on themes related to Pakistan’s independence, national identity, patriotism, unity, cultural heritage, and the responsibilities of the younger generation.
The English speeches provided students with an opportunity to demonstrate their communication and presentation skills. The Urdu speeches highlighted the importance of the national language in promoting communication and national cohesion, while the Sindhi speeches reflected the richness of regional language and cultural heritage.
The students delivered their speeches with confidence, clarity, and enthusiasm. The activity contributed to the development of public-speaking skills, critical thinking, confidence, and awareness of national and cultural issues.
10. Quiz Competition
A quiz competition was also organized as part of the programme. Students participated enthusiastically and demonstrated their knowledge of Pakistan’s history, national affairs, culture, and other relevant subjects.
The competition promoted intellectual curiosity, healthy competition, teamwork, and a deeper understanding of the country’s historical and cultural heritage.
11. Essay Competition
An essay-writing competition was organized to provide students with an opportunity to express their thoughts and ideas in written form. The participants wrote essays in English, Urdu, and Sindhi on themes related to independence, patriotism, national unity, and the responsibilities of citizens.
The activity encouraged students to improve their writing skills, develop independent thinking, and express their views in a structured and meaningful manner.
12. National Song Competition
The national song competition (Milli Naghma) was another prominent feature of the programme. Students presented national songs with enthusiasm and patriotic spirit.
Their performances created an atmosphere of unity and national pride. The competition provided students with an opportunity to express their love for Pakistan through music and encouraged them to participate in constructive and meaningful co-curricular activities.
13. Prize Distribution Ceremony
At the conclusion of the competitions, a prize distribution ceremony was held to acknowledge and appreciate the outstanding performance of the students.

The achievement of the students was highly appreciated, and their participation was recognized as an important contribution to the success of the programme.
* Role of the Principal and Faculty Members
The entire programme was conducted under the supervision and guidance of the worthy Principal, Prof. Dr. Afsheen Noman Saddar. Her leadership and encouragement played a significant role in making the event organized, meaningful, and successful.
The faculty members also rendered valuable services in arranging, coordinating, and supervising the various activities. Their collective efforts ensured that the programme was conducted in a disciplined, dignified, and well-organized manner.
The administration and teaching staff deserve appreciation for providing students with opportunities to participate in academic, cultural, artistic, and patriotic activities. At the end respected principal appreciated all helping faculty members for their continues work with sincerity and patriotic attachment, Professor Shariq Sb. Awarded presents to helping staff as token of appreciation.
