As a trainer and community practitioner, I want to state this clearly and without hesitation:

Advocating marriage for children under 18 is ethically indefensible, legally regressive, and socially destructive.

When a public figure like Maulana Fazlur Rehman dismisses age of marriage laws and encourages child marriage, it normalizes harm under the guise of tradition or religion. This is not a theological debate, it is a human rights violation.

Child marriage systematically deprives children, especially girls of education, bodily autonomy, health, and the ability to consent. It entrenches cycles of poverty, gender-based violence, and silence. Any framework that prioritizes ideology over a child’s welfare is not moral leadership; it is institutionalized neglect.

Even more alarming is the intersection of this mindset with cases of forced conversion and coerced marriage of minority girls, particularly Hindu children, who are married to much older men and presented as “willing.” This practice is not faith based; it is predatory and coercive, and it fundamentally contradicts principles of justice, dignity, and consent.

Let me be unequivocal:
Using religion to justify harm to children is not the defense of faith, it is the corruption of faith.

As educators, trainers, and professionals, our responsibility is to challenge narratives that legitimize abuse, to ground discussions in law and ethics, and to center the lived realities of survivors. Silence, in these moments, is not neutrality, it is complicity.
Protecting childhood is not a Western concept.
It is a moral, legal, and human obligation.

Proud to share a snapshot of my work as Team Lead – Menstrual Hygiene & Community Empowerment with Chupaal Initiative

In this role, I led the planning, coordination, and implementation of community based interventions focused on gender equality, menstrual health, and youth empowerment. My work centered on creating safe, inclusive, and culturally grounded spaces for girls and young women, using a rights-based and survivor centered approach throughout.

I had the privilege of:

Designed and facilitated menstrual hygiene awareness sessions.
Lead and mentored field teams across schools, hostels, and community spaces.
Coordinated with educators, community stakeholders, and partner organizations.
Managed logistics, documentation, beneficiary coordination, and ethical engagement.
Supported monitoring & evaluation, and reporting for accountability and impact.

Impact highlights:

✨ Reached 500+ girls through menstrual hygiene education and kit distribution in Gujrat
✨ Helped reduce menstrual stigma by encouraging open dialogue and practical learning
✨ Strengthened team capacity through hands on supervision and mentoring
✨ Ensured timely, ethical, and impactful program delivery aligned with Chupaal’s mission

This experience reinforced my belief that community empowerment is most effective when care, dignity, and accountability are built into every step. Grateful to the team, our partner, and communities who made this work meaningful.

I had the privilege of conducting a session with young girls on menstrual hygiene, dignity, and the rights every woman deserves.

In a society where women are still mistreated, shamed, and even harassed for a natural biological process, from everyday stigma to incidents like Mahwari Mela backlash, empowering girls with knowledge becomes a form of resistance and healing.

Through open conversation, education, and collective reflection, we reminded each other that “periods are not a taboo”, they are a sign of health, strength, and womanhood.

Grateful for the courage these girls showed by asking questions, breaking silence, and choosing awareness over fear.
Let’s continue building a society where no girl is shamed for her body, and where menstrual health is treated with the importance it deserves.

🌍 Climate Change and Women in Pakistan: The Hidden Impact 🌾

In Pakistan, climate change disproportionately affects women, deepening existing inequalities. From agriculture to health, women bear the brunt of climate impacts. As primary caregivers and contributors to household economies, they face increased workloads, health risks, and social vulnerabilities.

👩‍🌾 Agriculture: Irregular rainfall and droughts threaten livelihoods, while water scarcity forces women to travel further, affecting their time and health.

💧 Health: Extreme heat, malnutrition, and waterborne diseases hit women hardest, especially those caring for families.

🏠 Workload: Resource scarcity adds stress, and migration due to climate disasters pushes women into even more challenging roles.

⚖️ Inequality: Limited access to resources and decision-making power hampers women's ability to adapt.

🛑 Violence: Displacement increases the risk of gender-based violence and exploitation.

🚨 Disasters: Women are more vulnerable during natural disasters, with their caregiving roles and limited mobility.

🔗 It's time to prioritize gender-sensitive climate policies and include women's voices in adaptation strategies.

About the Session :
Books are your silent mentors who quietly speak volumes to you. Books guide you in the darkness of life. Books don’t make you knowledgable, they make you enlightened. Knowledge is secondary, enlightenment is a gift. The only gift in the world that you claim yourself and don’t have to wait for anyone to give you.
