The English Department recently celebrated its new BS English (1st semester) students with a lively and heartwarming welcome party that left everyone smiling. We are deeply grateful to Madam Shamsa Gillani, Mr. Amir Yazdanie, Mr. Asif Khan, Mr Rana Munir for being there as chief guests along with it we thank Ms. Mehreen, Mr. Zahid Majeed, and Mr. Talib Hussain, Mr Hassan Basit, Mr Hunny Manzoor for gracing the occasion with their presence and encouragement. Our sincere thanks also go to Mr. Ali Hassan for capturing the event so beautifully through his lens. Special appreciation is extended to Ms. Fauzia Riaz, Ms. Syeda Humda Atta, and Ms. Farwa Waheed for their committed planning and seamless coordination. Kudos to team Mani (GFTC) for their dynamic performance, which brought an exciting spark to the celebration. Above all, we proudly acknowledge our Head of Department, Dr. Taimur Kiyani, whose inspiring leadership continues to elevate the English Department and illuminate its achievements.

On November 9, 2024, GLC Club and English Scholastic Society jointly organized a seminar dedicated to explore the profound message of Allama Iqbal. Sir Hassan Basit graced the occasion with his insightful recitation of Iqbal's poetry and illuminating discourse on his seminal concepts of Khudi, nationalism, and spirituality. The seminar served as a fitting tribute to Iqbal's invaluable contributions to the revival of Muslim consciousness in India.

Head of the GU- Department of English GIFT University, Prof. TaimurDr Kayani and his team visited the Adult Basic Education Society, ABES Gujranwala office to propose a collaboration to empower students and contribute to community welfare. Through this partnership, ABES will provide specialized training to GIFT University (The official Page) students, enabling both institutions to work together for the betterment of society. ABES is an organization that has made significant strides in education and literacy in Pakistan since 1975 and has received numerous accolades, including a Gold Medal from PTV and prestigious awards from UNESCO, such as the Nadezhda Krupskaya Prize. It expanded with a regional office in Rawalpindi, launched the ABES Teacher Empowerment Center (TEC), and introduced innovative approaches like Multi-grade Teaching and Joyful Learning. In collaboration with UNICEF, ABES developed Child-Friendly Schools and training materials for disaster risk reduction education. The organization also produced over 70 educational videos and trained thousands of women in Punjab through its Literacy through Skills Training Project.
