PARC-MARC has initiative for olive cultivation in Gilgit-Baltistan for commercial purpose, in addition to economic value, highlights olive plants as a resilient agroforestry crop. This visionary step aims to transform the barren and underutilized lands of GB into productive olive farms, ensuring long-term environmental and economic sustainability. Olive plants are exceptionally suited for the region due to their drought tolerance, adaptability to poor soils, and low water requirements — qualities that make them ideal for the mountainous ecosystem which are vulnerable to current climate change uncertainties in the region.
