Import of Non-Local Specialist Doctors Begins in Gilgit-Baltistan: A Local Consultant Doctor's Plea in Her Own Words
I am Dr. Amreen, Consultant Gynecologist, and a domiciled resident of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Attached herewith is an official advertisement by the Health Department of Gilgit-Baltistan, which was publicly displayed at the departmental level. The advertisement announced various vacancies for doctors across different districts of Gilgit-Baltistan. It is important to note that the advertisement explicitly stated that preference would be given to doctors belonging to Gilgit-Baltistan.
Yesterday, I appeared for the PPS (Public Private Sector) interview for one of the positions advertised in the same notice. Reportedly, doctors from Punjab working under the SPS (Specialized Healthcare Program) — who had not even resigned from their SPS contracts at the time of the interview — were informed late at night of their appointment in Sikandarabad, Nagar.
As the only qualified candidate from Gilgit-Baltistan who appeared in the interview, I was confident that I was the most suitable candidate for the advertised post. However, all the seats were given to doctors from Punjab, and I was not considered eligible for any of the positions.
In light of the notification which clearly states that preference shall be given to candidates from Gilgit-Baltistan, I earnestly request the concerned authorities of the Health Department of Gilgit-Baltistan to consider my appointment at a location of preference in accordance with the stated policy.
I appeal for your cooperation in this matter and respectfully request a review of the selection process.
