Women play a vital role in shaping society and bringing about positive change. They can inspire and lead by pursuing education, careers, and personal passions, breaking barriers and serving as role models for others. Women have the power to nurture and strengthen communities through acts of kindness, empathy, and leadership, whether as mothers, educators, healthcare workers, entrepreneurs, or activists. They contribute significantly to social and economic progress by championing equality, advocating for justice, and driving innovative solutions to global challenges. With their resilience and creativity, women can transform lives and inspire future generations to dream big and achieve greatness.

From the stunning Hunza Valley in Aliabad, Pakistan, twin sisters made an impressive mark on the international stage at the 6th Asian Taekwondo Championship in Indonesia, earning both gold and bronze medals and bringing pride to their homeland.
Girls in mountainous regions like Gilgit Baltistan display extraordinary resilience and talent, excelling in various fields despite limited resources and inspiring their communities.

A beautiful day at OLSS where prizes were awarded to the best students in each class in each subject. The students who have recently graduated and are now studying at colleges were also given some money as a token of appreciation and support.
All the guests, including Carrie and an Indonesian guest, staff and students enjoyed the meal together.
OLSS is a non-governmental organisation supported by Helen, Raji, Carrie and our Malaysian friends to promote education for underprivileged girls who have previously been ignored. By opening the door of the school within walking distance, OLSS has not only given the girls the opportunity to study, but has also changed the conservative mentality of the people in the area, with many of our students now attending colleges and universities.

Proud moments & what an achievement by OLSS, as three students,
Bushra Zehra
Rooma Batool
Sakina Jabir, have made it from OLSS to Karakoram University.
The journey we started 14 years ago has finally made an impact. Many of our students, currently 25, are attending colleges in Gilgit and aspiring to go to university to realise their dreams.
This is a really proud moment for the OLSS family, led by Helen from the US, the founder and major donor, Ahmed co-founder, local of the village and the entire team local and international who have really made a difference to the female community.
We will not stop here. We are pursuing our dream of building a collge to reach the next level so that every girl who completes her basic education can go to college and then university to make a difference to the community and human society.
The fight for women’s empowerment through education continues. Support us if you want to be part of real change in the world.

PTM - Parent-teacher meeting
Every few months we organise a day where we invite the parents of the students to discuss the progress of the girls and also to discuss if there are any particular problems that the students are facing.
There was a time when parents did not care about their girls’ education, but thanks to OLSS this has changed and parents now recognise that education is a need of the child. Not all parents, but some visit the school on invitation and are co-operative when it comes to their girls’ education.
We believe that the journey of change should not stop. It may be slow and hard, but it is widely recognised that education transforms a society and is the best tool we have to make a difference in a conservative part of the world.
