Murree is the elite institution of Pakistan with time-tested, glorious traditions in the fields of academics, co and extra curricular activities, created by its pupils, popularly known as ‘Gallians’. Lawrence College is a public school on the pattern of the well-known public schools of the world. Established in 1860 after Sir Henry Lawrence, the oldest residential institution of its type in Pakistan. Lawrence College started as an asylum with the object to provide a plain and practical education to the orphans and the children of the British soldiers in India. It had 82 children in its care initially. The number rose to 204 boys and 101 girls in 1914 when it was taken over by the Government of the Punjab as the Lawrence Memorial School, and 356 boys and 124 girls, when it became the Lawrence College in 1927, with the construction of the Lower Estate. The Girls Section was transferred to Saint Denny's School Murree in 1949. The college was handed over to the Board of Governors in 1962 (Grant of Autonomy by the Punjab Government) effective todate. Today, there are about 715 boys on the roll of the three schools. The number is expected to rise further, as the time passes. Location

The Lawrence College, Ghora Gali, Murree is situated at the beautiful foothills of the Himalayas at a height of about 1950 meters (6397 feet) above the sea level, on a pine-covered spur. The estate covers an area of about 150 acres and lies at a distance of about 2 km from the Rawalpindi-Murree Road, some 4 km from Murree and 57 km from Rawalpindi. In summers, the temperature seldom reaches 35C. Monsoon rains of July and August are intermittent. During the cold weather, when the estate is usually snow-bound, the college is closed for about three months, from December to February.

Army Burn Hall College for Boys, Abbottabad, hosted the prestigious 29th All Pakistan Burn Hall Bilingual Declamation Contest 2026 on 19–20 September 2026.

The mega event brought together 45 teams from leading institutions across Pakistan, with each team comprising one English and one Urdu speaker. After a highly competitive preliminary round, six teams qualified for the grand finale.

We are proud to share that Lawrence College Ghora Gali participated in the contest after almost 10 years, represented by our talented orators Hadi Nadeem and Junaid Ahmad. Both students spoke with great confidence, eloquence and passion, and represented Gallians at this distinguished national platform.

The contest concluded with Khyber Medical College, Peshawar and Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul being declared Joint Champions, while Sadiq Public School, Bahawalpur secured the second position.

We are sincerely grateful to the Principal, Army Burn Hall College for Boys, an esteemed Old Gallian, for his warm hospitality and for graciously hosting our students and teachers for tea in his office. His kind gesture was a beautiful reminder of the timeless Gallian spirit — that wherever Gallians go, they carry Lawrence College in their hearts.

Participation in such a prestigious national event provided our students with invaluable exposure and reflects Lawrence College’s commitment to promoting co-curricular excellence alongside academics.

𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬: 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠:

In today’s world, textbooks are no longer the only gateway to knowledge. Students learn by exploring, creating, experimenting and bringing ideas to life beyond the pages of their books and the walls of their classrooms.

For our Gallians, learning extends onto a much broader canvas. Through art, they paint, draw, design, create collages and experiment with different forms of creative expression. At the same time, their curiosity finds another dimension through Science and IT projects, where ideas are transformed into practical and innovative creations with the guidance and mentorship of their teachers.

The Art, Science and IT Exhibition, held on 24 September 2026, alongside the Founder’s Day celebrations, provided students with a vibrant platform to showcase their creativity, curiosity and skills. The displays were visited and appreciated by Old Gallians, distinguished guests, parents and members of the College community.

From colours and canvases to scientific models and technology-based projects, the exhibition reflected the diverse talents of our students and the dedication of their mentors.

When students are given the freedom to explore, learning moves beyond the textbook and becomes an experience of discovery, creativity and expression.

𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞:

Institutions are remembered not only for their history and achievements, but also for the people whose dedication and lifelong service help shape their legacy.

One such distinguished personality at Lawrence College Murree is Mr Muhammad Arshad Iqbal Choudhury, whose remarkable 42 years of dedicated service were recognised on Founder’s Day, 24 September. In a special gesture, the Principal, Brigadier (R) Jawad Ahmed Zaka SI(M), and the Chief Guest, General Syed Aamer Raza NI(M), SBt, honoured him with a Lawrence College blazer and a specially designed shield, marking the first such recognition in the College’s history.

For more than four decades, Mr Choudhury has played a significant role in mentoring and guiding generations of Gallians. His students are now serving across Pakistan and beyond, contributing to society in diverse fields. Interestingly, both the Chief Guest and the Principal are also among those who were once his students.

The recognition was more than an appreciation of long and devoted service. It was a tribute to the enduring bond between a teacher and his students, and a meaningful reminder to coming generations of the importance of respecting, remembering and honouring those who shape our lives.

Some legacies are written in history. Others live on in the people they have inspired.

𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐋𝐚𝐰𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞:

A delegation from Cambridge University Press & Assessment, International Education visited Lawrence College Ghora Gali, Murree on 15th Sep, 2026, where a productive and engaging session was held with the Principal, Brig Jawad Ahmad Zaka Retd SI(M) , and the College team associated with the Cambridge stream.

The discussion focused on areas of collaboration and support, including faculty training and professional development, enhanced facilitation for Cambridge students at the College, academic resources, and opportunities for further institutional cooperation.

The Cambridge team also briefed the College on their digital products, modular A Level options, assessment solutions, and other academic support initiatives.

The delegation comprised Mr Shahid Ashraf, Deputy Country Director, Pakistan; Mr Muhammad Nabeel Dogar, Senior Manager, North, Pakistan; Mr Andreas Papalysandrou, British Council Development Lead; Ms Janet Walker, Head of Product: Digital Mocks and Exams; and Mr Emlyn Torres, Business Development Implementation Lead.

The delegation, accompanied by the College team, also toured the campus and appreciated Lawrence College’s rich heritage, disciplined environment, and the various academic and institutional initiatives undertaken in recent times.

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to explore meaningful avenues of collaboration for strengthening Cambridge education at Lawrence College.

𝐀𝐧 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 & 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞:

Lawrence College Murree came alive with music, drama, colour, and creativity as the Annual Performing Arts Show was held on 23 September 2026. The event brought together students from the College’s three schools, providing them a vibrant platform to express themselves through singing, acting, music, and a variety of captivating performances.

The evening was graced by Brigadier Muhammad Yusuf, Commandant AST Barian, as the Chief Guest. From the very first performance, the audience was treated to an exciting display of confidence, imagination, and stagecraft, with students winning enthusiastic applause throughout the evening.

The Chief Guest appreciated the impressive performances and commended the students for their talent, confidence, and dedication. The Principal congratulated the organizing team, faculty, and students for putting together a well-coordinated and memorable show.

The evening also featured an exchange of souvenirs, adding a special touch to the occasion.

With every performance reflecting months of preparation and teamwork, the show was more than an evening of entertainment. It was a celebration of student talent, self-expression, confidence, and the joy of performing.

𝐋𝐚𝐰𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝟏𝟔𝟔𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫’𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲:

Lawrence College Ghora Gali celebrated its 166th Founder’s Day on 24 September 2026, honouring its rich heritage, cherished traditions and enduring legacy of excellence.
The celebrations commenced with a combined assembly of the Junior and Prep Schools at the Prep School field, where prayers were offered for the prosperity and continued success of Lawrence College. Addressing the students, the Principal, Brigadier Jawad Ahmad Zaka SI(M), paid tribute to the founders and successive Principals whose vision, dedication and service have shaped the institution over the years.
The celebrations were graced by the Chief Guest, General Syed Aamer Raza, HI(M), SBt, Commander National Strategic Command, and a proud Old Gallian. He was received at the Principal’s Office before joining the Founder’s Day proceedings. The event was attended by GOC Murree, General Zarrar Mahmood, the Station Commander, senior military officers from Murree, members of the Board of Governors, Old Gallians, faculty, staff, students and a large number of parents.
The traditional PT display by the Junior and Prep Schools was a vibrant demonstration of discipline, coordination and teamwork. This was followed by an impressive gymnastics display and a thrilling match that kept the audience thoroughly engaged. The performances reflected Lawrence College’s enduring commitment to developing confidence, discipline, teamwork and physical excellence alongside academic achievement.
In his Founder’s Day report, the Principal highlighted the College’s ongoing journey of development and modernization, including initiatives aimed at equipping students with technology, innovation, life skills and contemporary learning opportunities, while preserving the institution’s distinctive traditions and values.
Addressing the gathering, General Syed Aamer Raza fondly recalled his own days at Lawrence College and cherished memories of his time at Ghora Gali. He appreciated the students for their performances and encouraged them to learn, grow, remain connected to their roots and carry forward the traditions and values of their alma mater. He emphasized that Lawrence College’s distinction lies not only in academic excellence but also in the holistic development of its students’ personalities.
Continuing his long-standing association with his alma mater, the Chief Guest has, over the years, made generous contributions towards the Innovation Centre and the welfare of the Junior School staff. His continued support reflects the enduring bond of an Old Gallian with Lawrence College and his commitment to the institution and its students. On the occasion, he also announced the establishment of a paddle court for Lawrence College students.
The Founder’s Day celebrations were a fitting reflection of Lawrence College’s enduring spirit: honouring its heritage, preserving its traditions and preparing its students for the future.

Lawrence College observed Pakistan’s Defence Day on 6th September 2026 with solemnity, reverence, and national pride.

In keeping with tradition, a wreath-laying ceremony was held at Yadgar-e-Shuhada — the college’s memorial dedicated to the Shuhada of Pakistan. The occasion honoured the supreme sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces and strengthened the bond of Gallians with the nation’s military heritage and spirit of service.

The ceremony began with Quranic recitation followed by special prayers for the elevation of ranks of the Shuhada, and for the peace, progress, and security of Pakistan. Students, Faculty, Heads of Schools and Principal gathered to pay tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the defence of the homeland.

In his address, the Principal highlighted the significance of 6th September and urged students to embody the values of patriotism, discipline, courage, and selfless service demonstrated by our Shuhada.

Through this annual observance, Lawrence College reaffirms its commitment to remembering the Shuhada and to nurturing citizens who are devoted to the nation.
