Human Brain Cells Make Mice Smarter۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔
Newborn mice injected with human brain cells — called glial cells — show signs of greater intelligence and improved memory, reports a new study. The treated mice find their way through mazes faster and also show signs of greater awareness of nearby dangers. The findings were reported this week in the journal Cell Stem Cell.
Human glial cells have mostly be overlooked in brain science, while more glamorous neurons took center stage. Scientists are now theorizing that the evolution of glial cells was an important step in the evolution of human intelligence.
The study raises some interesting questions: Just how human is a mouse with human brain cells? Also, is it ethical to experiment on super smart mice? And, finally, has anyone picked up a copy of “Flowers for Algernon”?

Gnarly Mummy Head Reveals Medieval Science.......
In the second century, an ethnically Greek Roman named Galen became doctor to the gladiators. His glimpses into the human body via these warriors' wounds, combined with much more systematic dissections of animals, became the basis of Islamic and European medicine for centuries.
Galen's texts wouldn't be challenged for anatomical supremacy until the Renaissance, when human dissections —- often in public -— surged in popularity. But doctors in medieval Europe weren't as idle as it may seem, as a new analysis of the oldest-known preserved human dissection in Europe reveals.
The gruesome specimen, now in a private collection, consists of a human head and shoulders with the top of the skull and brain removed. Rodent nibbles and insect larvae trails mar the face. The arteries are filled with a red "metal wax" compound that helped preserve the body.

A Texas vet claims DNA work suggests Bigfoot is a human relative that arose 15,000 years ago.
Genetic testing confirms the legendary Bigfoot is a human relative that arose some 15,000 years ago -- at least according to a press release issued by a company called DNA Diagnostics detailing supposed work by a Texas veterinarian.
The release and alleged study by Melba S. Ketchum also suggests such cryptids had s*x with modern human females that resulted in hairy hominin hybrids, but the scientific community is dubious about her claim.
"A team of scientists can verify that their five-year long DNA study, currently under peer-review, confirms the existence of a novel hominin hybrid species, commonly called 'Bigfoot' or 'Sasquatch,' living in North America," the release reads. "Researchers' extensive DNA sequencing suggests that the legendary Sasquatch is a human relative that arose approximately 15,000 years ago."
