BIC GCUF Holds Successful Pitching Competition 2026 for Students and Faculty Startup Induction

The Business Incubation Center (BIC) at Government College University Faisalabad successfully organized its Pitching Competition 2026 to select startups for the 6th batch of student-led ventures and the 4th batch of faculty-led ventures.

The competition was conducted under the supervision of an official Selection Committee constituted by the Vice Chancellor in accordance with the guidelines of the Higher Education Commission (HEC). A total of 54 startup proposals shortlisted from various faculties of the university, competed in the final pitching round.

The evaluation panel was chaired by Prof. Dr. Sofia Anwa, Dean Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences, Other members of the panel included the Dean faculty of Engeenring, Director ORIC, Manager BIC, an HEC representative, and a distinguished industry expert.

During the event, participating students and faculty members presented innovative business ideas and entrepreneurial solutions with remarkable confidence and professionalism. The presentations highlighted the growing entrepreneurial mindset within the university community and showcased a wide range of innovative concepts to address contemporary market and societal challenges.

Speaking on the occasion, the organizers appreciated the participants' enthusiasm and creativity and emphasized the importance of enhancing innovation-driven entrepreneurship within higher education institutions.

GCUF Achieves Major Leap in QS World University Rankings 2026

Government College University Faisalabad has improved its global standing in the QS World University Rankings 2026, securing the 691st position worldwide, up from the 761–770 band last year. The university also ranks 8th among Pakistani universities.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam hailed the achievement as a result of the collective efforts of faculty, students, researchers, staff, and alumni. He said the improved ranking reflects GCUF’s commitment to academic excellence, research, innovation, and quality enhancement.

Congratulating the GCUF community, the Vice Chancellor reaffirmed the university’s resolve to further strengthen its national and international standing through quality education and impactful research.

GCUF Seminar Highlights AI-Driven Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Applied Chemistry

The Department of Applied Chemistry at Government College University Faisalabad organized a one-day seminar titled “Bridging Industry, Academia and Artificial Intelligence: Entrepreneurial Opportunities for Applied Chemists” to discuss the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in scientific research, industrial innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Chairperson of the Department of Applied Chemistry, Prof. Dr. Shumaila Kiran, said the seminar aimed to strengthen academia-industry collaboration and equip students with the skills needed to thrive in a technology-driven world. Dean Faculty of Physical Sciences, Prof. Dr. Kaleem Khan Khosa, emphasized the importance of integrating AI, academia, and industry to develop innovative and market-oriented solutions.

Speaking at the seminar, Dr. Mariam Rehman, Chairperson of the IT Department, Mr. Mian Abdur Rasheed, Member Central Standing Committee on Trade and Public Relations, and Dr. Kazim Raza Naqvi, CEO of S & K Laboratories, and Muhammad Imran CEO The Eagles institute of E-commerce Faisalabad highlighted the transformative impact of AI, entrepreneurship, and industry-academia partnerships on the future of applied chemistry. They urged students to embrace emerging technologies, develop entrepreneurial skills, and contribute to industrial growth through innovation and research.

The seminar also featured a poster competition and product exhibition by BS Applied Chemistry students, showcasing innovative projects and chemistry-based products.

GCUF Vice Chancellor Visits Faculty of Engineering Open House & Job Fair 2026

The Department of Electrical Engineering Technology, Government College University Faisalabad , successfully organized the Open House & Job Fair 2026 at the New Campus, providing a platform for students to showcase innovative projects and connect with industry leaders.

Students from the Departments of Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, and Chemical Engineering Technology presented their Final Year Design Projects before representatives from leading organizations, including Nayatel, PARCO, FCCI, ITU Lahore, Happilac Paints, Indus Electric, and several renowned industries. Industry experts evaluated the projects based on innovation, technical feasibility, practical application, and commercial potential, and outstanding projects were awarded top positions.

On this occasion, Dean Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rauf Bhatti, briefed the Vice Chancellor about the Open House and Job Fair. He stated that the event aimed to strengthen industry-academia linkages, showcase students' innovative projects, and provide employment opportunities and professional exposure to graduating students.

Vice Chancellor GCUF, Prof. Dr. Rauf-I-Azam, along with Deans, Directors, Chairpersons, and faculty members, visited the exhibition and appreciated the students' creativity and technical competence. He encouraged students to transform their ideas into startups and contribute to national development through innovation and entrepreneurship.
