Government Degree College Booni, Upper Chitral

Govt run institute, functioning under the auspices of Higher Education Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa The college was then upgraded to Degree Level in 1999.

Government College Booni was started in October 1985, as a non-developmental scheme by the then Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education department to provide education to the Students belonging to sub division Mastuj, District Chitral, up to intermediate level. The College aims at providing facilities of higher education to the students of District Upper Chitral, that spreads over 8000 Km² mountainous area having a population of about one lac. According to the policy of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Higher Education Department, the college offers courses in Subjects of Pure Science, Social Science & Humanities. Other facilities available in the college are hereunder:
1. Boarding facility for students of far flung areas
2. 24/7 Open Canteen
3. Closed-hour Staff presence inside the campus throughout the academic session
4. An advanced IT lab
5. A well established library with digital facilities.
6. Playgrounds for every sport.
7. Separate common room and sports facilities for female students.

Government Degree College Booni, Upper Chitral proudly announces the successful completion of its Solar-Powered Clean Water Project, a landmark initiative made possible through the generous support of ROSE Chitral (Regional Organization for Supporting Education). The project will be formally inaugurated on 20 July 2026 at the college campus. The inauguration ceremony will be graced by Mr. Abdul Akram, Additional Secretary, Higher Education Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as the Chief Guest. The college expresses its sincere gratitude to Mr. Hidayat Ullah, Chairman ROSE Chitral, for his visionary leadership and generous support in making this project a reality. This initiative will provide safe and sustainable drinking water to students, faculty, and visitors while promoting the use of clean renewable energy, reflecting our shared commitment to quality education, environmental sustainability, and community development.

An Academic Audit Team from the Regional Directorate of Higher Education, Malakand, Saidu Sharif, Swat, visited Government Degree College Booni today. The team was led by Regional Deputy Director Mr. Syed Iftikhar Jan, accompanied by Prof. Dr. Syedullah Jan, Principal, Government Postgraduate College Timergara and Mr. Muhammad Javed, Principal, Government Degree College Darora, Lower Dir.

The audit was conducted in the presence of the College Principal and all faculty members. The team thoroughly reviewed the academic, administrative, and institutional affairs of the college, including teaching practices, academic records, and overall performance. The faculty fully cooperated with the audit committee throughout the visit.

The visit concluded successfully with valuable observations and recommendations aimed at further improving the quality of education and institutional performance.

Farewell to a Dedicated Servant

Mr. Ali Muhammad, who had been serving as a supporting staff at Government Degree College Booni since 1986, has retired after nearly four decades of sincere and devoted service. Today, he was given a warm and respectful farewell by the college administration and staff.

During the ceremony, colleagues fondly recalled his dedication, punctuality, honesty, and deep commitment to his duties, appreciating the affection and loyalty with which he served the institution throughout his career.

We pray that Almighty Allah blesses him with good health, a long life, and a happy and peaceful retirement. Ameen.
