This closed shop belongs to a Hindu who, at the time of the Partition of India, left for India with great sorrow. Before leaving, he wept and told the people of the village, “I am leaving this shop with you as a trust I will return one day.”
In Loralai, Balochistan, this shop still stands locked with the same padlock that the Hindu himself fastened before his departure, taking the key with him to India. Seventy eight years have passed, yet the shop remains closed and untouched.
The landlord, who was a Pashtun, has also passed away. Before his death, he made a will to his children, instructing them never to break the lock, saying, “This shop is a trust belonging to a Hindu who promised to return. I gave him my word that the shop would remain closed until his return.”
Even today, the landlord’s descendants have never touched that lock, though they know well that the Hindu man is no longer alive. The shop now stands as a symbol of loyalty and trust a testament to the promise between a Hindu and a Muslim, and to the Pashtun’s steadfast honor in keeping his word.

It is with profound sadness that I share the heartbreaking loss of two of our beloved school students in a tragic road accident. These young lives, full of promise and potential, were taken far too soon, leaving our school community in deep sorrow. The incident has shaken us all, and our thoughts and prayers are with their grieving families during this unimaginable time. As we mourn this devastating loss, let us honor their memory by cherishing one another and prioritizing safety on the roads. Their absence will be deeply felt, and they will always remain in our hearts.
