USMS and SANA Explore Collaboration for Sufism, Sindhi Language, Girls’ Education and Global Linkages

A delegation led by Prof. Dr. Imamuddin Khoso, Vice Chancellor, University of Sufism and Modern Sciences (USMS), BhitShah, held a productive meeting with the leadership of the Sindhi Association of North America (SANA) in Karachi to explore avenues for academic, cultural and institutional collaboration.

During the meeting, the Vice Chancellor briefed the SANA leadership on the vision, progress and academic priorities of USMS, particularly its distinctive approach of integrating Sufism with modern sciences and contemporary academic disciplines. USMS is Pakistan’s only university established with a dedicated academic focus on Sufism alongside modern sciences and contemporary subjects.

Dr. Akhtiar Ali, Director Academics, USMS, highlighted the University's initiatives for the promotion and preservation of the Sindhi language, culture and heritage. He shared that USMS degree certificates are printed in both Sindhi and English, reflecting the University's commitment to preserving and promoting the Sindhi language.

Dr. Zaffar Iqbal Junejo, Director, Center for Sufi Studies, Research and Publications (CSSRP), briefed the SANA team on the University's ongoing academic and research initiatives related to Sufism and its relevance to contemporary society.
The SANA leadership expressed strong interest in supporting USMS, particularly in promoting girls’ education in rural Sindh. Dr. Maqbool Halepoto assured the Vice Chancellor of SANA's cooperation in strengthening educational opportunities for girls in the land of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, with particular attention to underserved and rural communities.
It was also agreed that a SANA delegation will visit USMS, BhitShah, later this month to further explore areas of mutual cooperation, including connecting USMS with international universities and institutions, academic partnerships, research collaboration, girls’ education, and other educational and cultural initiatives.

The USMS delegation also included Syed Imdad Ali Shah, Registrar, USMS, and Mr. Atta Muhammad Chopan, Deputy Director ORIC, USMS.
The meeting reflects a shared commitment to advancing Sufism, Sindhi language and culture, rural education, girls’ empowerment, research, academic excellence and international institutional linkages, while strengthening the connection between USMS and the global Sindhi community.

Chief Secretary Sindh Assures Support for Sufism and Modern Sciences at USMS Bhitshah
BHIT SHAH: Chief Secretary Sindh, Syed Asif Hyder Shah, visited Bhit Shah and met with Prof. Dr. Imamuddin Khoso, Vice Chancellor, University of Sufism and Modern Sciences (USMS), Bhit Shah. During the meeting, the Vice Chancellor briefed the Chief Secretary on the university’s ongoing academic, infrastructural, and institutional development and highlighted key initiatives aimed at strengthening the University as a distinctive centre of higher education integrating the rich intellectual heritage of Sufism with modern sciences and technology.
Prof. Dr. Imamuddin Khoso apprised the Chief Secretary of the University’s current progress and its efforts to enhance academic facilities, research capacity, and learning opportunities for students. He emphasized the unique academic identity of USMS, which seeks to promote the values of Sufism alongside contemporary disciplines in science, technology, management, and other modern fields.
The Vice Chancellor requested the support of the Government of Sindh for establishing a dedicated Sufism-related Centre at the University. The proposed centre would serve as an academic and research platform for the study, documentation, preservation, and dissemination of Sufi philosophy, literature, culture, and intellectual traditions. It would also promote interdisciplinary research on the contemporary relevance of Sufism, particularly in fostering peace, tolerance, social harmony, compassion, and human development.
Prof. Dr. Khoso also highlighted the need for advanced computing and technology laboratories to support the University’s modern sciences programs. He stressed that state-of-the-art facilities are essential for providing students with practical exposure to emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, data science, advanced computing, and software development, while also strengthening research, innovation, and digital learning.
The Chief Secretary Sindh appreciated the University’s vision and developmental initiatives and assured support from the Government of Sindh for the development of Sufism-related facilities. He acknowledged the significance of Bhit Shah’s spiritual and cultural heritage and recognized the potential of the University to promote this heritage through higher education, research, and scholarship.
Prof. Dr. Imamuddin Khoso expressed gratitude for the Government of Sindh’s continued support and encouragement and reaffirmed the University’s commitment to developing an academic environment that brings together Sufi thought, modern sciences, technology, research, and innovation.
The visit and assurance of governmental support were welcomed as an important development that would provide further momentum to USMS Bhitshah’s efforts to emerge as a prominent centre of knowledge, research, Sufi scholarship, and modern scientific education.

The University of Sufism and Modern Sciences, Bhitshah, organized a Defence Day Programme on Monday, 7 September 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Conference Hall of the University.
The programme was graced by the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Imamuddin Khoso, Vice Chancellor, University of Sufism and Modern Sciences, Bhitshah. The event was organized to commemorate Defence Day and pay tribute to the bravery, sacrifices, and unwavering commitment of the Armed Forces of Pakistan.
The programme highlighted the significance of 6 September Defence Day and created awareness among students about the sacrifices made for the protection and security of the country. Students and faculty members expressed their patriotism and respect for the nation's defenders.
The Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts behind organizing the programme and emphasized the importance of patriotism, discipline, unity, and responsible citizenship among students.

The University of Sufism and Modern Sciences, Bhitshah, organized a Meelad-e-Nabi (ﷺ) Programme on Thursday, 27 August 2026, at the Conference Hall of the University.
The programme was graced by the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Imamuddin Khoso, Vice Chancellor, University of Sufism and Modern Sciences, Bhitshah. The event was organized to commemorate the blessed birth of Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (ﷺ) and to promote the teachings, Seerat, and message of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) among students.
During the programme, students actively participated and performed Naat-e-Rasool Maqbool (ﷺ) with devotion and respect. Their melodious recitations created a spiritually uplifting atmosphere and reflected the students’ love and reverence for the Holy Prophet (ﷺ).
The programme provided an opportunity for students and faculty members to express their devotion and learn about the noble character, teachings, and Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ). The Vice Chancellor appreciated the participation and efforts of the students and encouraged them to follow the teachings and Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) in their daily lives.

State Bank of Pakistan Holds SME Mentorship Program at University of Sufism and Modern Sciences, Bhit Shah

A session on the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Mentorship Program was held at the University of Sufism and Modern Sciences (USMS), Bhit Shah, organized by the Department of Business Administration in the University Conference Hall.
The session was conducted by State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Hyderabad, represented by Mr. Sabgatullah. The students of various departments attended the awareness session on entrepreneurship, SME development, business opportunities, and the financial support and mentorship initiatives available to aspiring entrepreneurs.
During the session, students were briefed on the importance of SMEs in Pakistan’s economic development and their role in generating employment, promoting innovation, and strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem. The speaker also highlighted the importance of business planning, financial literacy, access to finance, and effective management for establishing and growing sustainable enterprises.
The session provided students with valuable insights into practical aspects of entrepreneurship and encouraged them to explore business opportunities and develop their entrepreneurial skills. An interactive discussion and question-and-answer session also allowed students to seek guidance regarding business development and SME-related initiatives.
Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Imamuddin Khoso appreciated the initiative of SBP Hyderabad and also commented on the significance of session and its content. The Vice Chancellor appreciated the department for organizing such important sessions. The University of Sufism and Modern Sciences, Bhit Shah, organized a Seminar on Peace Building on 21 August 2026 at 11:00 A.M. in the Conference Hall of the University.
The seminar was organized under the theme “Building a Culture of Peace for a Better Tomorrow”, with the objective of promoting dialogue, mutual understanding, respect, empathy, cooperation, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence among students.
Dr. Zafar Junejo was invited as the Speaker of the seminar. He delivered an informative and thought-provoking talk on peace building and highlighted the important role of youth in promoting tolerance, harmony, and constructive dialogue in society.
The seminar was graced by Prof. Dr. Imamuddin Khoso, Vice Chancellor, University of Sufism and Modern Sciences, Bhit Shah, as the Chief Guest. The Vice Chancellor appreciated the initiative and emphasized the importance of developing a culture of peace, respect, and understanding within educational institutions and society.

HEC Accreditation Team Conducts Comprehensive Evaluation Visit to the University of Sufism and Modern Sciences, Bhitshah

Bhitshah, August 17, 2026: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan conducted an accreditation visit to the University of Sufism and Modern Sciences (USMS), Bhitshah, to evaluate the institution's academic and administrative standards in accordance with the prescribed quality assurance framework of the HEC.

The visiting committee carried out a comprehensive assessment of the university's academic, administrative, and infrastructural facilities. The evaluation process included a detailed review of faculty profiles, academic programs, administrative practices, institutional governance, and quality assurance mechanisms to determine compliance with the standards established by the Higher Education Commission.

During the visit, the committee also inspected the university's educational and technological infrastructure, including computer laboratories and the state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence (AI) Laboratory equipped with robotic features. The inspection focused on the university's efforts to integrate modern technologies into teaching, learning, and research activities.

The Worthy Vice Chancellor of the University of Sufism and Modern Sciences, Bhitshah, Prof. Dr. Imamuddin Khoso, warmly welcomed the HEC accreditation team and presented a comprehensive briefing on the university's current academic standing, strategic vision, ongoing infrastructure development, and future expansion plans. ORIC USMS & SEIC Explore Collaboration to Foster Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Under the directives of the Vice Chancellor, University of Sufism and Modern Sciences, BhitShah, Professor Dr. Imamuddin Khoso, the Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC), USMS, organized a productive session with the Sindh Enterprise Incubation Center (SEIC) to explore opportunities for collaboration in innovation, entrepreneurship, and startup development.
The session was conducted by Umair Jaliawala, a renowned motivational speaker, who engaged students with inspiring insights on entrepreneurship, innovation, and transforming ideas into meaningful impact.
